Yesterdays mass shooting at Virginia Tech the worst in American history is another horrifying reminder that some of the gravest dangers Americans face come from killers at home armed with guns that are frighteningly easy to obtain.

We now know the name of one of the professors that was killed.

If he has not killed himself he would have been in serious trouble for violating those gun laws.
By sheer coincidence, I happened to watch this on Sunday. It’s Penn & Teller’s complete episode of “Bulls**t” on Gun Control: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2807602702866411553&hl=en It specifically addresses mass shootings such as Columbine, noting that they only happen in “gun-free zones” such as schools, never at gun shows or NRA conventions. They blow away the very idea that you can prevent criminals from using guns by passing a law against it, and they even mention all the gun laws that the Columbine shooters broke. The language is rough at times, but it should be required viewing for every NY Times editor.
At the rallies in Washington D.C. a few weeks ago, the pro-American activists outnumbered the anti-Americans by three to one. Defending the Second Amendment is a more popular cause than the Iraq war, we should be able to do even better with that.
A single armed student could have prevented the massacre at Virginia Tech. Think of what thousands of conservatives working together could do.
I know that sounds like a cheesy coach's speech, but I'm sick and tired of the socialist filth pushing us around, using their lock on the media to tell lies about us, and trying to hang on to a monopoly of "professional protestors." Let's not let them exploit this tragedy for more political gain. Let's speak, and speak loudly, against anyone who tries that. It's time to KICK SOME LIBERAL ASS.
Very conveniently timed for the libs in Congress to make hay with, I have to say. After Nancy’s “hundred hours” has dragged out to 100 days with absolutely nothing accomplished, here’s a softball of an issue that the libs and rinos can come together on. Not like it’s a conspiracy or anything.
This is exactly the time to PUSH the rhetoric, not pull back from it...
Just a SINGLE legally armed American Citizen could have ended this thing, and saved DOZENS of lives in the process..
Instead, we have a “Gun-Free” slaughter zone, on a campus that just last week was threatening to EXPEL a legal, permitted, gun-owning student that brought a LEGAL weapon on Campus....
It’s pretty simple: LIBERALISM KILLS
Wow 8 years already I was 13 when the shootings in Littleton happen time has gone by so fast
BANG!BANG!BANG!BANG!BANG!BANG!BANG!

BANG!BANG!BANG!BANG!BANG!BANG!BANG!
That is 13 too many BANGS! REAL Conservative gun control is hitting your target the first time.
Agreed...
But it’s a moment of passion...
VT suffered not from too many guns, but from too few.
Idiots! How many of these killers have PERMITS? I'd like to see a study on that.
The important question is will you see a second Michael Moore movie, “Bowling for VT” in your lifetime?
Thats right, lets go to war. After all, we are on the side of the Angels.
In your dreams. By tomorrow night, guns, available on every street corner to kids, bad guys and killers, fresh off the plane from China will be the #1 issue on the news. You think that we can beat them right now by talking loud? Maybe we should drag out all the guns, the AK47`s, the 50 cal., all of them and have this out right now. We could set up displays with all our talking points at the funerals of those kids killed today. That will work, right?
Or maybe we will be smart and shut up and let the NRA do our talking.

I am all for the second amendment. But I wonder what difference lighter laws would have made in this case. I was a grad student for 5 yrs and unless you convinced me that there was an invading Army, I would have been too lazy and careless to pack a gun to class. I barely woke up in time for class. Ditto for most grad students I think.
The guy could have killed pretty much the same number of people if he had turned himself into a human bomb. Are they going to outlaw the sale of explosives for that reason?
I agree with that scenario. I just wished that in some of these school shootings the LEOs would do some shooting of their own. I am literally sick of watching them hiding behind their cars with their bullet proof vests doing nothing.
Since the University of Montreal shooting the SWAT team there has changed their tactics completely .They have orders and procedures to storm the building at once and fire at will.
This probably saved the lives of many at the Dawson College shooting last fall when only one person died because the cops immediately charged in and shot the perp.
If the cops had done that today thay probably would have saved manay many lives.
I think the big story in the coming days would be the inefficiency on the part of the cops, specifically their decision to do nothing & wait(for what??).
I agree there has to be a study somewhere about these shootings that shows that the promptness of the intervention is key if only because it distracts the shooter from his methodical killing spree.
All the cops are there in force with machine guns and even a special armored vehicle and they don’t even fire a shot.... that is a disgrace.
