WASHINGTON: Pakistan is backing World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz as he fights to save his job with Europe, and some other members of the Bank’s governing body, calling for his resignation and the powerful staff union demanding that he be dismissed in the wake of the scandal involving undue favours he did for his female “domestic partner”.
Salman Shah, adviser to the Prime Minister, who is here for the spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, was asked at a press briefing at the Pakistan embassy on Sunday afternoon what position Pakistan had taken on the Wolfowitz issue. He said, “We are evaluating the evidence.”
When it was pointed out to him that the evidence was quite clear on the issue and Wolfowitz himself had admitted wrongdoing and tendered an apology, he made it clear that Pakistan would back the president no matter what, adding, “He has been good to Pakistan.”

AND the Wall Street Journal; Wolfie’s got the Journal and the Pakis on his side, what more could a man want?
The only question in my mind is why the WSJ editorial board would support someone who obviously exercises such poor judgment, i.e., lets his schwanz do his thinking for him.
He leaks to them, that’s why.

WSJ is mad that somebody “leaked” Wolfowitz sweet deal to his girlfriend.
