At least 33 people were killed today on the campus of Virginia Tech in what appears to be the deadliest shooting rampage in American history, according to federal law-enforcement officials. Many of the victims were students shot in a dorm and a classroom building

I sure hope S.W.A.T. teams are training for this..
I think Congress should conduct several unbiased studies on guns and ,once and for all, either support the NRA and pass laws to make sure that everybody carries guns or support the gun control lobby and pass laws restricting the availability of guns or do some of both
You do realize that Congress cannot do this don’t you? If you are an American citizen you should know how our Constitution is modified - right? Is it by Congress making a study? — I don’t think so.
Your input to this discussion can’t be taken seriously because of your glaringly simplistic approach.
It’s been so long ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
Baby you’re smokin
Earlier someone compared murder by gun to rape and it made me think:
The anti-gun nuts make as much sense as banning sex for all because someone committed rape.
Makes a lot of sense....to an idiot.
FBI 2005 crime statistics:
An estimated 16,692 persons were murdered nationwide in 2005, an increase of 3.4 percent from the 2004 figure.
Weapon use
In 2005, 24% of the incidents of violent crime, a weapon was present.
Offenders had or used a weapon in 48% of all robberies, compared with 22% of all aggravated assaults and 7% of all rapes/sexual assaults in 2005.
Homicides are most often committed with guns, especially handguns. In 2005, 55% of homicides were committed with handguns, 16% with other guns, 14% with knives, 5% with blunt objects, and 11% with other weapons.

Drunk driving is no accident.
There were 16,694 alcohol-related fatalities in 2004 39 percent of the total traffic fatalities for the year.
Every one of those was a result of a CRIME, too.
Right there, it drops the rate, assuming ALL murders were due to shooting, rather than the aforementioned 85%, down to 50%.

“Deaths due to crime" is NOT the same as “murders”.
It is terribly disingenuous to purposely omit a major class of fatal crimes, just to drive an anti-gun agenda.
You can own a fully automatic weapon in most states in the union if you pass a stringent background check by the local CLEO (Chief Law Enforcement Officer) and the FBI, and pay a $200 tax to the NFA branch of the ATF.
The weapon must have been manufactured before 1986 (thanks, GWB!) the background check takes about 6 months, and when you receive the paperwork from the ATF (actually it will be from the Treasury Department and will be a tax stamp, like the ones issued for alchohol manufacturers) authrorizing the ownership tranfer, the paperwork, or a copy or it, must stay with the weapon at all times.
When you want to take the weapon out of state, or ship it to a repair shop, you must apply for permission to do so to the ATF. They will send you paperwork approving that within a few weeks.
It’s VERY expensive to own, by the way. M-16’s could easily go for more than $10,000 to $15,000. Same thing with MP-5’s.

All we need do is ban guns, chains, fire, etc. /sarc
True.
Many instances of armed Israeli CIVILIANS stopping a terrorist attack IN ITS TRACKS with some well placed shots from their personal firearms, including killing suicided bombers BEFORE they could set off their bombs and kill MANY innocent Israelis.
Are we never gonna learn the right lesson? A, shall we say, "student hall monitor", trained, certified and permitted to carry/use his weapon could have ended this before 3 dozen people were executed.
Of course, the predictable response from the Academe will blame the eeeee-villl inanimate object instead of the perp.....
Great point metmom, but it is a VAST understatement.
I think this "rebekah" is the Australian gun-grabber and pacifist TWIT that is pushing GLOBAL gun bans with the help of the Brits, Japs, the U.N., George Soros, and their ILK.
My NRA's Wayne LaPierre MOPPED UP THE FLOOR with her in a debate not too long ago (I have a dvd of it and have sent it to MANY friends and family members).
She's an anti-gun, anti-2nd Amendment, anti-FREEDOM MORON of EPIC proportions who thinks that the government should ONLY "ALLOW" us to have single-shot shotguns in government-approved storage for "sporting" purposes only.
This bitch, Rebekah Peters, is trying to push MASSIVE gun control by saying that ALL ILLEGAL firearms start out as LEGAL firearms, SO...
ALL (except a very few that she and other pointy-headed liberal maggots "allow" us) civilian-owned firearms should be banned and confiscated.
Rebekah, and your ilk... STAY THE HELL OUT OF OUR COUNTRY, and keep your f'ing paws OFF of our SECOND AMENDMENT.
Then again, if you insist, you can HAVE my guns...
LEAD FIRST.
It's called a "head shot".
Never heard of her but it sure seems to fit. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was her from what you posted.
BTW, did you see post 118? Don’t drink and read.
The anti-gun nuts make as much sense as banning sex for all because someone committed rape.
Makes a lot of sense....to an idiot liberal.
There, fixed it for you. Same difference, really.
Or maybe that should be:
Makes a lot of sense....to an idiot liberal.
But that's redundant.
but liberal-idiot is not
The weapon must have been manufactured before 1986 (thanks, GWB!)
Good Lord, you’re right!
Thanks...
Ed
Taken from a blog:
"In Chinas new generation, there are 120 boys for every 100 women, due to the one-child-policy and the abortion of girls by those who insist on a son.
Lots of evidence suggests that a giant surplus of men who will never find women will sharply increase the crime rate and cause other problems."
Yeah, sometimes I wish the mods would let us have some fun and not zot too quickly. A good zot is a good way to end the day.
