On more than one occassion while growing up (and well into my 50’s) my father asked me, “What are you...retarded?” Parents always think that they “know better” than their children. I’m just an old bachelor, but I knew immediately what was being conveyed in those posts. However, with all the PC crap that we are innundated with by the language police, I can also see where you were coming from.
Sometimes we just get caught up in the moment.
btw, tell your friend, null that it's never nice to tell someone else her parents think she's retarded.
That's the last I'll say on the subject, since the comment was highly inappropriate and tasteless for this thread in the first place, and I don't want to further perpetuate its discussion..
I have 3 sons: 15, 12, and 3. The 3 year old often is more mature than the 15 year old. In fact, I just got a $178 in over charges from his text messaging a girl out of plan. I plan on asking him if he is retarded as soon as school is out.
A boy from one of the Norris classrooms was on the local DC news last night. He crouched behind a desk. His friend next to him was shot in the arm. He thought he was going to die. He said he was thinking about how his death would affect his mom. I began to weep. I went and hugged my baby, my 12 year old (he complained of being sqashed) and Mr. Can’t grasp a calling plan. He asked if the guy lived. I said no, he died that’s why he’s on the news talking about it.
I understood the comment.
