By 10:53 AM, an email had already gone out to the student body indicating the gunman "was in custody" and that "as part of routine police procedure" they were looking for other involved parties. That puts his demise somewhat earlier than 10:53 AM.

The search for others involved and the pictures of it are probably causing people to think LEOS were "standing around." They were clearing the campus to ensure there were no further threats.
