I would never “diss” victims.
It’s a thought I had, and have had many times - our society seems to push the “don’t resist” mentality thinking it will help the situation. I think the fighting back mentality works better so it’s what I teach my children and it’s what I was taught. Again, I wasn’t there and I’m not dissing victims by any stretch of the imagination. This is one of the reasons I think gun control is ludicrous.
I agree with you, the students lying on the ground barricading the door to help brace it were honorable. I wasn’t dissing victims. I’m not dissing anyone, even those who don’t respond in fight mode. All I’m saying is we continue to teach, or so it seems, the “don’t fight back” philosophy and I have a problem with that philosophy. I don’t think it works. I’d rather fight back or have victims fight back. I sure as heck wouldn’t trust someone holding a gun on me to do the right thing.
