BARNEY FIFEDOM

Mark for future...note the cops had the latest uniforms, weapons, vehicles, vests...we'll see what they were doing between shootings.

Maybe because there wasn’t anyone to pursue, and they thought they might have greater success interviewing witnesses and trying to find out who the guy was and where he might be headed. How on earth can you pursue someone if you don’t know who they are or where they went. Obviously you are not thinking rationally here. Barney Fife would jump in his car and start driving around aimlessly. Law enforcement officials try to gather as much info as possible before acting.

Pursue who??? By the time LE had beeen called and responded to the first shooting that shooter was long gone. You don't start running around looking busy in this situation. You seal off the crime scene, assess the situation and interview witnesses. That's what they were doing. They wewre NOT acting like Barney Fife's, but had they followed your advice they would be!
