I haven't posted a comment on this horrifying event yet today but have been watching the news and reading this thread. Your comment is spot-on, IMO. Those who think that students should be armed are probably just upset right now; or at least I'd like to think that is their reasoning. We know that there are far too many unstable students, and other people, to start calling for students to all be armed. But those in charge of security certainly need to be well-armed.
These students were rendered defenseless. Those 21 and older could have cerried for defense, especially the women, who are more likely to be attacked. As of right now, it's clear the g/f wass in danger and was certainly in need of an effective defense that included carrying a gun.

After the first 2 AM shootings, the campus was literally crawling with were armed cops with rifles. Your emotional plan failed big time.
