Rudy Will Speak At Pat Robertson University
NY Post ^ | 4/16/07

April 16, 2007 -- Republican White House hopeful Rudy Giuliani will speak tomorrow at the university founded by televangelist Pat Robertson, a major appearance for the former mayor before a conservative crowd.

Several hundred people have registered to size up Giuliani, who holds liberal social views but is casting himself as the campaign's true "fiscal conservative."

He will be introduced at Regent University by Robertson - who in 2005 said Giuliani would make "a good president."

We tend to be polite folks.

If only.

...except when discussing Mr. Rudy Giuliani...then the watch word is: rude.

Oh, come on Corin, you are smarter than that. How does it “clean up” a headline by changing “Rev Pat U”, which is clearly a snide comment and not supposed to be representative of the name of the university, to “Pat Robertson University”, which sounds like a real name and therefore is simply misleading (and in fact misled people to think NY Post thought the name of the university was “Pat Robertson University”.

We don’t clean up titles around here. Sometimes we put parenthetical statements to “clarify”. If the title included the statement “(Pat Robertson’s university)” that would be clarification.

Since the actual article in the New York Post referred to the university as “Regent University”, it is clear they knew the name and were not “making a mistake” in their headline.

Be offended. Or not. I simply don’t care.

The man is a kook. A complete nutcase. He should be an embarrasment to Christians.

Remember when he advocated nuking the State Department?
Or agreed with Jerry Falwell when he blamed various liberals, gays, lesbians, etc. for 9/11?
If the latter doesn’t sound like a Taliban pronouncement, I don’t know what does.

I could go on (and on and on) with posting statements like that, but I won’t.
The fact that someone who said the things above has his own “university” is indeed laughable.

He may have done lots to help the needy, but he’d be better off doing it with his mouth shut.

See ya,
CD

On the other hand, we are told to prevent re-posts by using the exact titles. And we are told that we should search for titles first. And we are told to use the most unique things in a title to find the article.

And in the title above, “Rudy will speak at” isn’t very unique, he speaks a lot of places. The “unique” thing was “Rev Pat”. But if you searched for “Rev Pat” you wouldn’t find this thread, because the title was changed to a bland title that would be found for the wrong reasons.

Now, I can’t say if that was the real reason for changing the headline, but that is the effect, to make it harder to find the article, and to make it look like the article wasn’t a repeat of another article posted 2 hours earlier with comments a lot more against Rudy.

I don’t remember EVER going to a conservative event where our invited speaker was booed. We don’t boo people, we might not clap loudly, but when we invite people to speak to us, even if we disagree with them, we treat them with civility.

I wasn’t talking about threads on FR, we were talking about whether the people at Regent would boo, or whether CPAC people would have booed.

Whatever Charles.

I’m following the shootings at Tech and really have little patience for your high horsity attitude this morning.

I’m following them as well, but can do so while posting to other threads. Apparently you can too, as you are posting to this meaningless Rudy thread, so I find your protestations an attempt to be snarky.

In fact, given that there are important things to read today, having to put up with multiple postings of the same article is a distraction that we shouldn’t have to put up with.

But I don’t mind, so long as I get to point out how things are done around here. And I don’t even need special access to the secret rudy fan club site to know what the strategy is.

I am afraid the American people,as a whole, don't care about the abortion issue. It has come down to a civil rights issue to some people. The enormous amount of abortions that have been done in this country alone is staggering. And the blood of the innocent cries out to God. If our country stands for the cultural of death, then so be it.We reap what we sow. After all the percentage of Americans that don't vote is disgraceful. What will it take for the people of this country to care enough to get out and vote.I hear time and time again, they, being politicians, are going to do whatever they want and could care less about us,except when they want our vote. So why would I want to give my vote when they don't even care about nothing but their own power. But to be sure Rudi will divide the republican party and if elected, the social conservatives will have nowhere to go.

Why is it bothering you so much? Get over it and grow up and stop whining. My god they already alerted the Admin Moderator to delete it. Get a grip and stop harping on it. I don’t care if it gets deleted. Just delete it and shut up about it. My god you people have no life!

My last post on any Rudy thread was before the news broke from Tech.

Now, go stand in front of your mirror some more as it’s obvious how much you admire the view.

Thank you for the back-up, Theo.
I read your profile page, and learned a much that I didn’t know about Pat Robertson. As you say, none of us are perfect, no not one, but some are less perfect than others. ;o) I wish some of the members of FR were more charitable. It seems with an important election coming up, that rather than staying with facts, so many stoop to viscious and immature backstabbing. It would be interesting to know the average age of Freepers. I would be at the high end, thus have been there and done that, (and hopefully have learned by experience) more than most, I am sure. God bless you and your wife in your ministry.

I urge Wormwood and Constitution Day to peruse your entire profile page. They will learn a great deal.

But I’m reading a comment you just made, and responding to a comment where you posted saying that you were already following the VT shooting.

Maybe we are just speaking a different language, where “last post” doesn’t mean the posts you are making.

>Be offended. Or not. I simply don’t care.<

We all say things we regret on occasion. Or not. If you simply don’t care.

>The man is a kook. A complete nutcase. He sould be an embarrassment to Christians.<

One of which you obviously are not. Who died and made you God?

>Remember when he advocated nuking the State Department? Or agreed with Jerry Falwell when he blamed various liberals, gays, lesbians, etc. for 9/11? If the latter doesn’t sound like a Taliban pronouncement, I don’t know what does.<

You weren’t upset with some of the things going on in the Clinton administration? What did Pat Robertson say that you haven’t said on this thread?

What Dr. Robertson meant was America’s sins - because of taking God out of public life, the murder of innocent lives (abortion), the forced acceptance of an aberrant way of life which is an abomination to God - He (God) will take his blessing and protection away from our country. Unless we repent and change our ways, He will forsake us, and rightly so!

Again I ask you to read Theo’s profile page, then post again.

I’m not whining, I’m simply commenting on a tactic used. I don’t whine, and I don’t generally call for deletions, because I am quite capable of using the medium to explain my point of view.

It’s not bothering Charles as much as he’s pretending it is. He just likes to twist words around and pretend he’s better than everyone else.

But how can we miss him if he won’t go away.

I don't believe that areafiftyone is "getting sensitive" at all. I think areafiftyone is getting sassy! Woo hoo, areafiftyone! Go for it!

The Rudy trashing gets tiresome, so I generally don't read the anti-Rudy comments, I just read the good news articles about Rudy's campaign.

And no, he's NOT crashing and burning! (in your dreams, pal.)

just read the good news articles about Rudy's campaign.

Me too. I stay off the anti-Rudy ones because I noticed it is the same people all the time posting them to get the biggest stink over it. So I leave them to their fun and I stick with the good stuff. I am much happier that way EVEN THOUGH THEY TEND TO PING ME ANYWAY! LOL!
