April 16, 2007 -- Republican White House hopeful Rudy Giuliani will speak tomorrow at the university founded by televangelist Pat Robertson, a major appearance for the former mayor before a conservative crowd.

Several hundred people have registered to size up Giuliani, who holds liberal social views but is casting himself as the campaign's true "fiscal conservative."

He will be introduced at Regent University by Robertson - who in 2005 said Giuliani would make "a good president."

I resemble that remark!

Seriously then, Guiliani’s support is a mile wide and a quater inch thick. A candidate cannot win the Republican nomination without a plurality of the core constituency of which Evangelicals like Pat Robertson a an important part, that’s why he’s going.

What’s bad for Rudy is that much of his support coming from the core constituency is only there because they fear Hillary more than Rudy. Put a viable candidate with bonafide conservative credentials that the core believes can beat the Hildebeast and his numbers will drop like a rock.

When Thompson announces, He will be tied or ahead of Guiliani withing 2 weeks of that time and barring something catastrophic, Guiliani will never recover.

Land and Robertson and Falwell are the Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons of the Republican Party. They should all stay out of politics.

On that - you & I agree! I never heard of this Land guy & Robertson seems to be going senile. Falwell has a little more credibility with me (not much more) - but I certainly don't need the endorsement of any religious leader to choose who I will support for President.

The leftist media just uses these people for goofy, out of context quotes when they want to make conservatives sound stupid - but then if one of them comes out & makes a favorable comment on one of their pet picks - then they are out there making it sound like these guys are endorsing them. They let the media use them for convenient tools.

These guys need to stick to religion and let the rest of us figure it out for ourselves.

My understanding is that Romney will speak there also.

But shame on the NYPost for “Pat Robertson University.”

The name of the school is “Regent University.” And they’ve worked quite hard to establish their reputation way back from the days when they were “CBN University.”

“At the end I think it will be Rudy vs. Fred in a very tight race. But then that’s just my opinion.”

I tend to share that opinion. Rudy needs to do a good job with the patient pro-lifers to make it tight, though. The fanatics who want everything to change tommorrow will never go for him.

Heed the words of GWB (whom I assume has pro-life street cred, “We need to change people’s hearts on abortion if we want to change the laws”. If Rudy’s heart has changed, he will need to convince people better than he has been doing.

Why would a pro-lifer vote for Rudy if they could vote for Thompson?

Is the Republican Party now the “Conservative Party” or what?
Better go start your own party because the conservative branch of the party is not all that makes up the Republican Party, and I am sick of Rudy and anyone less the “pure” being demonized. Especially by the likes of those who, sat out the last election in protest and brought us this freaking mess!
Thanks, but no thanks, to your brand.

"Rudy Will Speak At Pat Robertson University"

That alone makes a candidate less desirable to me.

Booed? Most Republicans are NOT rude to Rudy. I was a CPAC... www.cpac.org and he received the warmest welcome except for Newt. He got the most votes in the straw poll when counting the 1st & 2nd place choices in the straw poll.

I hope you’re not rude.

"...liberal social views but is casting himself as the campaign's true "fiscal conservative."

===================

Fiscal conservatives don't support govt funded abortions.

So is this how we promote conservatism, by supporting a liberal?

Rudy is an enemy to the US Constitution and to conservatism, and you are on the enemies team cheering him on, and at a conservative site no less.

What's up with that?

Or to quote Gunny Sgt. Hartman:

"WHAT IS YOUR MAJOR MALFUNCTION NUMBNUTS?!"

Not “Laughable”! In fact it is a very sad day when
Freepers display vitriolic name calling and create ridiculous scenarios about a man who has done more to help the helpless, the hungry, the sick and disabled in one day than said Freepers have done in their entire lifetimes. For shame! It is also very offensive to Christian Freepers, to say the least.

You posted this at least two places. Much better to post as it’s own thread and link it, so we can discuss it. Apologizing ahead of time for doing the wrong thing doesn’t make it better.
