I missed voting for Goldwater—being underage. But I watched our star flicker out with a single TV ad featuring a nine-year-old girl picking petals from a flower followed by a mushroom cloud. The Vietnam War blundered on in true 'Rat fashion. Nobody wants to so totally lose as we did back then—and they'll torpedo a conservative again.

This country's voters are very labile, and not the brightest bulbs to start with. :^(
