Why are you punishing the pet when it’s the people’s fault? WHy don’t you have the stones and do what’s right and take the pet directly to the people who own and ask them to keep it off your property? Why hurt the pet? Have you know conscience? DO the right thing next time. Don’t punish the animals.....

Fawn,

I do have the stones, but if you don’t know who owns the cat what are you supposed to do with it? Besides, if my dog gets loose and then gets caught, even with her tags and collar I get the privilege of paying a hefty fine to get her back.

The people whom I “suspect” own one of the cats are well known in our neighborhood for not being very neighborly. They had previously accused their neighbors of killing the cat and went so far as to file a police report against them. Guess what? The cat was seen a couple of days later in their window and the Sheriffs Dept. basically just ignored the pleas of the neighbor who wanted to press charges of filing a false police report.

What is it with cat owners and their illogical thought processes that make them think they aren’t responsible for their pet(s) and the actions/activities of their pet(s)?

A friend of ours has a dog that will and has climbed over a six foot high wall. The dog got out one day and we were doing our damned best to get him back when a few folks came out yelling at us about the dog. The dog was just running around, not threatening anyone, although one lady with an immaculate lawn got really mad when he pee’d on her lawn. Yet cat owners are let off the hook?

The dog now spends his time (illegally btw) restrained in the back yard when he’s let out. Why is the dog being punished? The owner has taken extreme measures to control his animal to prevent him from creating a nuisance, that’s why. Why can’t a cat owner?

I didn’t say anything about hurting the “pet” and I do have a conscience, thank you. I said I would turn it over to Animal Control. Like I told Anton, “sorry cat, your OWNER let you down”, hence the “punishment” is essentially the owners fault not mine. Who’s punishing whom here and who is doing the right thing?
