How electable will Fred be after his cancer announcement? Will conservatives vote for Fred? I applaud him for making this very private situation very public BEFORE he starts his campaign.

Deep in my brain, I know that Fred is too good to be really true, but I can’t wait until he announces.
To: STARWISE
How can this be? The Rudy people have told me he has cancer and therefore cannot run and that FairOpinion guy says he has no chance because Rudy’s beating him in the polls. Then there are the other guys trying to tell us he’s pro-choice. And you ARE aware that he campaigned for Lincoln Chafee, yes?
Sheesh...what’s a FredHead to think!!! lol

"Wamp says Thompson is "not a hard-core conservative, not a bomb thrower, not an ideologue" but someone who can appeal to the majority of Republican voters." I thought the reason people here support him is because they are under the impression that he IS a hard-core conservative. When are they going to admit they've been had?

Oh .. that was a must as he considers this most critical
decision, and he plainly said he was doing it to gauge the
reaction to this news. Did you see his interview with
Neil Cavuto? He was wonderfully and elegantly honest.

He was wonderfully and elegantly honest. No, I didn't see the interview. If Fred is as conservative as I hope he is, he should do quite well.

Most of us aren’t looking for a hard core conservative, we’ll give on some things. With giuliani, it’s totally giving up on everything.

i wonder why he hasnt announced YET I think he waiting for maybe NBC plan not or renew Law and Order his gig YET I havent hear anything on ET wiresIF Mr. Thompson is waiting to announce until he knows whether or not he'll still have his acting job, then I would find that EXTREMELY disturbing. That'd be like saying, "well, I'd like to be President, I feel I could do the job pretty good, America might need me, but ya see, I got this acting gig and if it goes well.....well, I just won't have the time to play President in real life." (to the flame-throwers in the group, notice I said, "IF", in BIG CAPITOL LETTERS in my first sentence)

Among republicans polled, 29 percent prefer former New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani, 15 percent favor Thompson, while only 12 percent prefer McCain, who once led the pack.
