Katie will be filling in.
Who is this “Don Imus” of whom you speak?
Well, the racist hatemongers won one today.
As long as you give these idiots like Sharpton and Jackson what they want, you can be sure they will be back for more.
They have seen the weakness and are using it.
Local news talk show say race baiter Sharpton will hold a news conference outside CBS headquarters — right now. Nobody is carrying it live, that I can find.
Ok, so when are they firing Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson? Oh wait, they don’t have jobs. Nevermind.
Imus has been fired before, from the predecessor of his current station, WNBC. He was back about a year later. He’s been at that station and WFAN, which took over the frequency, ever since.
so I guess my question is-when will Imus appear before congress to tell us a tale of woe and censorship. After all, when Clear Channel made a business decision to no longer play Dixie Chics music because of complaints the cry of “censorship” was heard all over the land. Those poor victims were being censored, how dare the evvvvviiiiillll corporation do that.
So now CBS has also made a business decision-will the left now cry censorhip and have him testify before congress?
It will be interesting to see if SeeBS will do anything about the Rappers on their record label who use ever filthy word out there in their recordings...
Typical of See BS, they hire a foul mouthed bigot to be just that, then they fire him when the PC patrol points out he’s a bigot. The real bigots are the CBS management who know what they hired him for to make millions for them. But this misdirection ploy will divert attention from the truth that it is the CBS leadership who are the true damaging bigots for our troubled society.
I don’t see much difference between Imus and the Dixie Chicks situation. Granted, Imus apologized and the Chicks were defiant but that’s the only difference. Both said something in public which offended a lot of people and both paid the price. Welcome to the big leagues.
I wonder if his younger wife will stick with him.
From NewsMax:
Weighing in on the Don Imus controversy, Catholic League President Bill Donohue commented Wednesday on the way Catholic bashers are treated compared to the morning radio talk-show host.
“Two years ago, Penn Jillette [of the comedy team Penn and Teller] went on ‘Showtime’ calling Mother Teresa Mother F***ing Teresa and called the nuns who worked with her f***ing c**ts. ‘Showtime’ is owned by Viacom and that is why I wrote to its chief, Sumner Redstone, to register a complaint. He wrote back extolling the merits of artistic freedom and tolerance,” Donohue stated.
“Last year, on Viacom-owned CBS radio, Jillette said Mother Teresa had this weird kink that I think was sexual, compared the saintly nun to Charles Manson and said she got her [sexual] kicks watching people suffer and die. Again, nothing was done about this.
Donohue then quoted an episode of comedian Bill Maher. “In 2005, Bill Maher went on HBO at the time of the death of Pope John Paul II and said, For those who could not make the funeral, the Vatican has asked that in lieu of flowers, just stop touching your d**k. He also said that the whole story of Jesus, the Virgin Mary, and the Resurrection was grafted from paganism; he ended by mocking the death of the Pope and the upcoming conclave. The letter I received from HBO said that its a free country, and people are free to say silly thingseven on HBO.
Right before Easter,” Donohue continued, “the Catholic League protested the chocolate Jesus with his genitals exposed that was to be shown in the art gallery of the Roger Smith Hotel in midtown Manhattan [located on street level, the public was invited to eat him]. Air America radio co-host Cenk Uygur, writing on The Huffington Post, said, So is the argument that Jesus didnt have a d**k? Or were people offended because it was too big? Too small? Too immaculate? Not immaculate enough? Regarding Imuss remark, Uygur called it derogatory and insulting.
“Similarly, Joan Walsh on Salon.com said the chocolate Jesus was not a big deal, and advised people not to go see it if they didnt like it. She has now called on Imus to be fired. Even New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg said dont pay any attention to the chocolate Jesus, but he now finds it necessary to brand Imus comments repugnant.
This was political power play - pure and simple. Jackson and Sharpton have just put Obama, Hillary and anyone else running for president on notice that the reverends are still major movers and shakers in the Democrat Party and better be taken very seriously — or else.
The shake-down blackmail (oops) I mean extortion express is up and running again. Look for Jackson and Sharpton to squeeze millions out of American corporations in the coming months. The professional “offended class” have struck gold with this one.
You won’t hear any liberals saying ‘Imus’ and ‘free speech’ in the same sentence. Free speech is only for rappers and ‘artists’ who desecrate religious symbols (other the Islamic symbols). To see things as a liberal requires alot of mental gymnastics and damn little honesty.
How ironic that these basketball players who tatted themselves up to look like intimidating tough broads crumple after being called nappy headed hos.
That having been said let me add that I don’t see a lot of difference between what he said and those who claim the blessings of ‘art’ for works I find disgusting. He is as much an artist, albeit one that uses his mind and his communication skills, to advance his political views as the guy who puts the crucifix in the jar of urine. How is it one whit less offensive to speak words or express ideas that bother one race or another than to paint a picture of speak words that bother one religion or another.
The sad thing to me is that what he was trying to express was indeed a funny idea. One team is very ladylike, prim and proper, and then on comes the other team with tattoos and looking very rough!
I agree with the earlier posts that his time was up and they were looking for an excuse to dump him. He, and the Revs. Sharpton and Jackson, were under the direction of the baton of CBS and they played their parts perfectly.
My guess would be that all of this is going to prove to be very helpful for Imus when he returns to the air, probably on satellite. And trust me, he will return. Sooner rather than later!
Is it true Chris Rock called all white babies “ugly” on Letterman last week?
