Forgetting 9/11 (Already)

Global War On Terror: You've heard the mantra that "9/11 changed everything." Really? After five short years, even national security is slipping back to pre-9/11 footing. How soon we forget.

Recent developments in Washington show we're reverting to what law enforcement calls "condition white," a state of normalcy — or the old way of doing things — that existed before a crisis. This dangerous because al-Qaida will strike the moment it sees we've dropped our guard. We're nearly there.

We;ve gone back to business as usual, pre-9/11. We will live to rue it. If we live at all.

Oh we will live, most of us.
Minus a city or two and our economy trashed.

9/11 wasn’t enough to wake up America from it’s slumber.

Sure we got up to go to the fridge, but we got back in bed.

When there is another attack everyone will say “how did this happen?” And of course GWB will be blamed, even if he is no longer president.

How anyone can begin to forget that day is beyond me.

I was only a young teenager, not interested in politics or world affairs. It pains me to say I really hadn’t even heard of the WTC, or OBL.

The day shocked me to the core and changed me forever. And it didn’t even directly affect me or my loved ones.

So god only knows how the hell people in America itself can be so whimsical.

I think alot of it has to do with the liberals who have it in their interest to forget the day, which is why they hate it when President Bush so much as makes reference to it.

You said — “We’ve gone back to business as usual, pre-9/11. We will live to rue it. If we live at all.”

At the end of that article it said ...

Has anything really changed since 9/11?

We have officially absorbed into our collective psyche the horror of waking up to New York and Washington under attack, as if it were just another bump on the long road of terrorism. As if it was no different than the preceding string of attacks on the USS Cole, the U.S. embassies and the World Trade Center.
When will we learn? Will it take a nuclear 9/11?

It’s foolishly complacent to assume just because we haven’t been attacked in five years that the threat is over. That’s exactly what al-Qaida wants us to believe, so that we drop our guards again and make it easier for its terrorists to attack.

They’ll wait until they’re guaranteed their next blow will be successful. They will test, and they will case, and they will spy until they know they can pull it off. Patience is their hallmark. Five years is nothing in their scheme of things.

The date to consider is February 26, 1993, the date of the first attack on the World Trade Center. I read that Ramsey Yousef (one of the conspirators in that bombing) was taken by helicopter, by the FBI, to some location and was flying by the World Trade Center. He was chained up, locked up and had a hood over his head. One of the agents took the hood off, pointed out the World Trade Center and said, “It’s still standing.”

Yousef’s answer was “We’ll get it next time.”

That’s 1993 — the 9/11 attack was 2001. That’s 8-1/2 years later. That’s a long planning cycle. And that’s the way it works.

Apparently we’re governed by a groups of idiotic and stupid individuals, who were unfortunately elected by another group of idiotic and stupid individuals.

If we do have another major attack (like the article referenced as a *nuclear 9/11*) perhaps some of the idiotic and stupid ones will be killed off and leave some of the smarter ones. One could only hope...

Regards,
Star Traveler

Currently, I put the fatality threshold before the nation *as a whole* really gets serious at 20,000. Right now we are only at 3,000.

I think the next major attack will be against the UK. They know that an attack on the US will lead to fresh action against them, but an attack on the UK will likely be closer to the Spanish model.

Some people in the United States will never wake up. They will always say, “these are terrorists. You can’t punish a nation, or a religion, for the works of a few madmen.” These people will never realize that terrorism is bred by tyrannic governments driven by tyrannic religion.

The people that don’t realize we are in a war with islam are complete idiots. The ideology of islam is to kill unbelievers. We must never forget that.

"The ideology of islam is to kill unbelievers. We must never forget that."

Unfortunately, most Americans never learned, or will accept that fact in the first place, rendering them incapable of forgetting it!

And more unfortunately we, more than likely, will never be prepared to do what must be done to ultimately win this war of philosophies.

I will leave it to the reader to figure out what "must be done"!

How soon we forget.

The left forgot about 911, three weeks after it happened. Today a majority of our nation believe it was EITHER our fault OR we deserved it OR it was an isolated event that will not happen again.

The mantra that 911 "CHANGED EVERYTHING" is now 911 has "CHANGED NOTHING". All you have to do is look at the Democrat Party to know that is true.

I may be in the minority but I WILL NEVER FORGET!!

“This dangerous because al-Qaida will strike the moment it sees we’ve dropped our guard.”

All that Al-Qaida has to do is wait and hope that the Rats take over in 2008 and they’re home free. But in all fairness, the Reps are not impressive either considering that our borders are wide open for the enemy to enter the country.

Also figure that the severity of the second attack was many times worse than the first. I'd say if the first attack was a 1 (baseline severity), and the second attack was a severity of 10, then 8.5 years out (winter 2010) the third attack will be a 19 if linearly increased, and a 37 if exponentially increased (power of 2). I only say this to illustrate that these people are very patient and they do not plan to do anything that is less than what they have done before.

Since we have essentially shut down their efforts to hijack airliners, they need something different that would be more than 9-11. I expect nuclear attack with the help of Iran, North Korea, or maybe the missing Iraq materials that I still believe exist somewhere if we let them have the time and freedom to prepare. The only thing keeping them from having a better opportunity to prepare is the pressure we have been keeping on them.

A Dim in the White House with a Dim Congress, Senate, and a Dim stacked court system, is all they need to prepare while we stick our heads in the sand and party like it's 1999.
