If McCain can make peace with Rummy, that will go a long way to repairing his self-inflicted damage.
Rummy is one of the public servants that I respect and admire the most. Naturally he had to be destroyed, just as Newt was destroyed during the Clinton Administration. We cannot have an articulate conservative who is unafraid of standing up to the press.

Bushs silence is deafening and distrurbing. This has been the quietiest ineffectual White House I can remember.

Understood. But breaking up any large media company would, in no way, help assure conservative thought would come out of them. Our closest “truth” of such caliber is Fox.
The natural decentralization that the internet encourages is the way to address the inadequacies we find elsewhere. Mandating through law what companies or individuals can say is inherently wrong.
I share your concern, but this is what we’ve had for years. It is refreshing to note that someone like Rush Limbaugh can break the mold and help usher in a new time for conservatives.
We need the freedom to choose. That is most important and a cornerstone of liberty.

"But having been a critic of the way this war was fought and a proponent of the very strategy now being followed, it is my obligation to encourage Americans to give it a chance to succeed. To do otherwise would be contrary to the interests of my country and dishonorable." Raised him greatly in my estimation, although I still would prefer to have almost any other GOP aspirant running. But it was enough to convince me that should he be the nominee I will not "sit this one out".

Kind of makes you understand what the founders were doing when they set up a constitutional republic...
Absolutely... Circuses and bread supplied by the Left are surely having their toxic effects.

As a publisher of a newspaper, your post is quite right.
The transcript is part of the public record and is not subject to copyright law.

When McCain has a lucid moment, he sounds like the man I want for president. His only problem is that he can’t string two lucid moments together. A Peach of a problem.

I know, its frustrating, some mods here are just too trigger happy and grotesquely undertrained.
The only person who could claim copyright on a speech, they have written and delivered would be the speeches author, not any news publication that prints a transcript of it.

"Before I left for Iraq, I watched with regret as the House of Representatives voted to deny our troops the support necessary to carry out their new mission. Democratic leaders smiled and cheered as the last votes were counted. What were they celebrating? Defeat? Surrender? In Iraq, only our enemies were cheering. A defeat for the United States is a cause for mourning not celebrating."
..... "Our defeat in Iraq would constitute a defeat in the war against terror and extremism and would make the world a much more dangerous place. The enemies we face there harbor the same depraved indifference to human life as those who killed three thousand innocent Americans on a September morning in 2001. A couple of days before I arrived in Baghdad, a suicide car bomb destroyed a large, busy marketplace. It was a bit unusual, because new U.S. and Iraqi security measures in Baghdad have reduced the number of car bomb attacks. But this time the terrorists had a new tactic: they drove their car to a security checkpoint and were waved through because there were two small children in the back seat. The terrorists then walked away from the car, leaving the children inside it, and triggered the explosion. If the terrorists are willing to do this terrible thing to Iraqi children, what are they willing to do to our children? "

80%+ lifetime conservative voting record, and yet you believe McCain is a RINO/Liberal?
Reason is lost on many here.
McCain for good or ill speaks his mind, and since the press wants to do anything it can to make the Dems look acceptable will latch onto statements by McCain and spin them to portray it as though he’s with them.... His voting record clearly says otherwise though.
Its amazing how a site that mocks the MSM in so many things, has so many people so easily manipulated by them on so many other issues.

Free speech is important to me. McCain Feingold is a way to take that away from us. I watched him so many times on the Sunday circuit undermining efforts on everything conservative. Lest we forget about the gang of 14 and the judges - the one area we had an opportunity in. Sorry, record aside, McCain lost any future support from me. I have no dog in this race yet, but rest assured, McCain will not be it.

[.. 80%+ lifetime conservative voting record, and yet you believe McCain is a RINO/Liberal? ..]
I'm not a conservative, I'm a radical..
Conservatives are(have become) stealth Socialists..
As democrats have become stealth communists..
The truth is.... communism IS socialism..

Hmmm... McCain Feingold stifled free speach... interesting... considering I saw more activist ads in election cycles SINCE its passing then before it existed.
Swift Boat Ads and other things NEVER would have happened prior to MF....
Much ado about nothing.. contrived outrage.
To: jveritas
The Campaign Finance Reform is one of the most overrated Boogy Man laws in history. What part of "Congress shall make NO LAW abridging the freedom of speech..." needs to be explained here??? This law shouldn't even have to be on the books to be pooh-poohed by McCain's defenders...much less McCain himself, who swore to UPHOLD the Constitution, not parse it to hell and back.
McCain sucks, as a Senator and as a Presidential Candidate. If he runs, I hope he goes down in flames, just like he did the last time.

Only way I vote for McCain is if he wins the nomination. Period.
