We’ll see. I seriously dobut that we will have two NYers running against one another for the Presidency and Hillary already has the Dem nomination locked up.
If Giuliani can win in South Carolina, he can win ANYWHERE!
South Carolina was the birthplace of the Old Confederacy.
Romney takes it to the WH - IMHO.
That’s called a Subway Series. There is nothing illegal about two candidates running from the same state for the Presidency.
“We are in a little bubble here.”
And all this time I thought that we here on FR were politically astute, conservative and—right.
But now I learn that we’re just `Bubble Boys & Girls’.
Ultra-right, far right, members of the vast right wing . . ., and so forth and so on, as the MSM describes us.
Gee, you really know how to hurt a pair of dice, AFO: that really burst my bubble.
Im pro-choice. Im pro-gay rights, Giuliani said. He was then asked whether he supports a ban on what critics call partial-birth abortions. No, I have not supported that, and I dont see my position on that changing, he responded. Source: CNN.com, Inside Politics Dec 2, 1999 http://www.ontheissues.org/2008/Rudy_Giuliani_Abortion.htm
ANDERSON COOPER 360 DEGREES (November 14, 2006)
RUDY GIULIANI (R), FORMER MAYOR OF NEW YORK CITY: I'm pro- choice. I'm pro-gay rights.KING: Giuliani supports a woman's right to an abortion, and back in 1999, he opposed a federal ban on late-term abortions.
GIULIANI: No, I have not supported that, and I don't see my position on that changing.
KING: Immigration could be another presidential landmine. Back in 1996, Mayor Giuliani went to federal court to challenge new federal laws requiring the city to inform the federal government about illegal immigrants.
JEFFREY: He took the side of illegal immigrants in New York City against the Republican Congress.
KING: Giuliani opposes same-sex marriage but as mayor, he supported civil unions and extending health and other benefits to gay couples. He also supported the assault weapons ban and other gun control measures opposed by the National Rifle Association.
GIULIANI: I'm in favor of gun control. I'm pro-choice.
Republican Big-Wigs Support Pro-Abortion Event in NY
Pro-abortion Governor George Pataki and New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who also supports unrestricted abortion, are co-chairs of the 2000 Choice Award Presentation to be held on May 30 at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City. The event is sponsored by the Republican Pro-Choice Coalition, a group that is campaigning for the removal of the pro-life plank from the Republican National Platform.

Now, now A51, no fibbing. You know very well that NY State has not intention of voting for Rudy.
Hillary has led and still leads in every poll. Which speaks volumes - a POTUS candidate whose own home state rejects him isn't exactly 'good'. Just ask President Gore.
(Hey Mable let's vote for Rudy. Huh Buford why should we, his own state doesn't support him. Good point, cupcake!)
I think you are the ones that don’t “get it”. Most people are not passionately into the presidential race right now. Most people think it is still early to get all worked up about a candidate. Most people that respond to most of these polls are older people that are home when the phone rings, have a hardlined phone that pollers can reach (not a cell phone like most younger people) & still get their news from ABCCBSNBC/The View - granted, there are a lot of these people out there - but they are not representative of the vast American voting public. Most people groan when you talk about the campaign & say it’s too early & they are already sick of hearing about it.
I think this fall is when things will start heating up & special interest groups that are saving their money & resources right now (because it’s too early) will start coming out swinging - that is when Rudy is going to have to work himself to death constantly defending himself against all the myriad skeletons & liberal views that he will have to defend himself against.
Other candidates will be fresh and new to the now-weary-of-Rudy-public and they will gain momentum. Rudy will drop & hopefully, just go away.
Be happy for your candidate now - I hope you will be supporting someone else come this fall. Enjoy it now - it will not last.
Giuliani is not going to win in SC.
As a former NYer, I am very familiar with a Subway Series. I attended a few of them including in Ebbets Field and the Polo Grounds--the good old days when we had both the Dodgers and Giants in addition to the Yankees.
When the dust settles, Rudy ain't going to be the nominee. Too much baggage and too liberal for most of the party. Hear me now, believe me later.
I see the new mantra is that Fred Thompson is a liberal. I’ve seen at least 4 Rudy supporters in the gang throw that message out in the last 12 hours.
Ron Paul, Sam Brownback, and Jim Gilmore would also probably object to your claims that they are not “social conservatives”. Heck, even John McCain is a pretty good social conservative, not like Duncan Hunter but lightyears above Rudy.
I think his point was simply wondering why you would expend so much time and effort working together, coordinating your activities, posting 20-30 threads a day, spending all hours of the night refuting facts and advancing misleading and false stuff about other candidates,
if you think that FR is meaningless and the opinions of those here are of no value or interest.
It seems like some people have too much time on their hands — or more likely that they don’t believe their own claims of irrelevancy.
I do not support Rudy, but only a small number of TRUE Conservatives will make the same mistake that they did in ‘06. Our Nation will have nothing left to save for a future election if the rats win. Conservatives have the MOST to lose with a rat in the Whitehouse. Conservatives are NOT ALL stupid... only some!!!

Here’s what I would worry about if I was Rudy.
On the democrat side, the top 3: Hillary - 32%, Obama - %23%, Edwards - 21%.
On the republican side, the top 3: Giuliani - 29%, McCain - 16%, Romney - 8%
OK, several points. Hillary has more support from democrats than Rudy does from republicans, but she is considered quite vunerable.
The top 3 democrats have 78% of the democrats, leaving 22% either supporting others or undecided. That means that Hillary AND Obama are already chosen by more people than are left to choose.
But in the republican race, the top 3 only have 53%. That least 47%, or almost HALF the republicans, who either currently support some minor candidate, some unannounced person, or nobody at all yet. The “none of the above” vote SWAMPS Rudy’s support, beating him by 18 percentage points.
You know what they call the guy who consistantly gets 30% in the primaries? The loser.
Fred Thompson IS NOT a liberal. I would never say he was. He is a Moderate Republican.
Actually I do it for the over 200 people on my Rudy ping list. You guys decided to come on to the posts. Now you know there are plenty of other posts to go on but for some reason you guys can’t resist mine posts. Ya gotta admit they are irresistible. ;-)
mine=my
So, if Hillary leads Rudy in New York, that is to be expected. What is important in the national scheme of things is whether Rudy has more support in NY than Democrat registration and prior voting would predict. If so, it is Hillary who is in trouble.
Don't do what the press so often does on many issues. Don't let your preconceptions cause you to pick and choose among the facts to justify your ultimate conclusion.
Congressman Billybob
No problem, all you have to do is BEAT him. Since the numbers look very similiar all over the nation that is not likely. If conservatives cannot come up with a more conservative nominee whose fault is that? Isn’t that the voters telling you that they don’t agree with you?
"once the debates start and we see the candidates side by side espousing their positions on various issues, Rudy will fade quickly."
I think Rudy will plateau rather than fade, but as I've said repeatedly: the Rockefeller, Christian-hating liberals see this election as their opportunity to take back the Republican Party, and they're gonna do their damnedest, and they won't give up easily.
