Poll puts Giuliani, Clinton in lead in SC

STATEWIDE (WIS) - A new poll has some good news for Rudy Giuliani and Hillary Clinton in South Carolina.

The SCIndex has Giuiliani leading among likely Republican voters, with 29 percent, followed by John McCain at 16 percent and Mitt Romney with eight percent.

Giuliani's current lead is built primarily on support from women. Thirty-seven percent of all female Republican presidential primary voters indicate that they support the former New York Mayor. Fifteen percent of women who plan to vote in the Republican presidential primary support John McCain. McCain and Giuliani split support among male voters with each candidate getting 20 percent of their vote.

Among the likely Democratic voters, Hillary Clinton is on top, with 32 percent. Barack Obama is second with 23 percent and John Edwards has 21 percent.

Clinton is leading Obama among African American females, 41 percent to 29 percent. Obama is leading Clinton among African American males 34 percent to 28 percent. Among all women Clinton receives 38 percent to Edwards' 19 percent and Obama's 22 percent. Clinton has a slight edge on Edwards with white females 35 percent to 33 percent. Edwards has the lead among white males with 45 percent to Obama's 10 percent and Clinton's 10 percent.

That poll was conducted April third and fourth and had a margin of error of 4.9 percent.

The SC Index is done quarterly by groups not affiliated with any of the candidates.

Also, why is this poll being conducted in Statewide, Wisconsin for SC and why is it done quarterly? How is this different from the last quarter of 2006 or is this the first SC Index poll

-The original source of the article is a TV station in Columbia, SC. That is South Carolina.

- The call letters for the station are WIS.

- The correct abbreviation for Wisconsin is WI.

- It was a poll done statewide in SC.

Therefore, your assertion that the poll was done in Wisconsin or WI is incorrect.

It is understandable how some may have confused the station call letters for the abbreviation of another state. However, should you have difficulty with this explanation, go to the link at the top of the story, click and read.

Late in the game? Kerry won in Iowa and NH, the first two contests. Dean came in third in Iowa [18%] and second in NH [26%]. The polls were wrong.

The last minute polls in Iowa tracked the late shift toward Kerry -- many people really did make their decision in the final week or two -- also, you have to look at the polls and what assumptions they were using for turnout. Turnout was much higher than anticipated in some circles, and the more casual voters were less Gephardt- and Dean-friendly.

Rush said Scott Rasmussen has data showing that Christian Conservatives and Social Conservatives did not vote in huge numbers. I think this data may hold merit.

You sound like a Dean supporter. Dean was a MSM creation and after Iowa, they helped destroy him. The polls were wrong. Once the Dems start voting and look at the choices, Hillary will win by default. Obama is 2008's token black candidate replacing Sharpton. He will have four years in the Senate and little else to recommend him. Edwards' candidacy is an exercise in self-delusion. Biden, Dodd, and Richardson are trying out for the VP slot.

There are many Dems out there who would love for Al Gore to run. He is the only out there who could dethrone Hillary. But I doubt that he has the fire in his belly to run. He is rich, famous, and an icon to many not only in the US but worldwide.

Hillary has plenty of negatives. Hopefully, the GOP candidate will have less of them and still be able to mobilize and enegize the Rep base.

I’m going to disagree with almost every single thing you just said and leave it at that.

Hear me now, believe me later.

Considering you are wrong about what happened in 2004.... I don't see how that's going to change, ever.

No, my friend, I was factually correct about what happened in 2004. You offer opinion based on conjecture.

And Pat Buchanan was in second place back then.

Hey there; right you are. Buchanan ran a close second. Which tells us that FR doesn’t come close to representing the real world. LOL

“......Hate to break your little bubble, but all your polls and early leads for Rudy, will diminish, as people learn the liberal truth about Rudy.......”

This is wishful thinking on the part of the RudyPhobes. Rudy is pretty well known to America and they haven’t dumped him yet. He keeps getting stronger.

“.....No, you don’t get it. Conservatives do not vote for liberals.......”

We keep posting all the conservatives like Ted Olson and a litany of others who are supporting RG and you keep saying they are Liberals. lol

“......Fred Thompson IS THE MAN.....”

As Dennis Miller says, “I’d vote for him for Dyehard 4, but not for President.” Fred will prove to be a lightweight if he joins the Debates.

“............. Conservatives have the MOST to lose with a rat in the Whitehouse. Conservatives are NOT ALL stupid... only some!!!......”

And, BOY, are they dense!! lol A True Conservative Republican will vote for the Republican nominee, instead of being a surrender monkey to the Dems. I can’t believe anyone loyal to the party would do otherwise.

No darlin’, very few people across middle America know much about Rudy other than 9/11. They are not aware yet, that those scenes of him running around in the streets were because he had nowhere to go. They don’t know yet that poor judgment left him running around in the streets.

Dream on, his true nature, both personal and professional will be measured, and smart people who pay attention, will know he is no hero on terror, no hero in his life, and a flaming liberal who is only a manufactured saviour for pathetic nanny state people who wish to have the very people that they so despise, go into war to protect their selfish, liberal, pretend Republican backsides.

“......His infidelity, among other issues, is going to shock a lot of people who don’t pay too close attention. I have personally surprised several people I know who supported Giuliani, with the facts of his life and positions. They don’t support him any more......”

Most people in this country, I believe, are willing to be non-judgemental about Rudy. Many have been married more than once or twice and many, many are just living with their current “partner.” Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. I’m sure you and your friends could throw stones all day long, but most cannot or will not.

Quit your name dropping, You only look like a fool.

I am not impressed.

We had RAT attorneys that were not Republicans defending Bush and fighting against Gore in the 2000 elections.

Attorneys do not have to take a political side. They do not work that way. They may have one, but they don’t take most of their cases based on politics.

Yes, I am right and the facts about what FREEPERS posted back then, is either completely unknown by those who weren't here back then, or ignore or lied about, by some who were.

The delusion that FR and FR polls have any, ANY, relevance to what happens in the real world, is one that needs to be countered at every turn!

Forget about the 2000 primary season here....just look at the posts leading up to the '06 elections. Just about every post to FR was wrong!
