My hypothesis is that 2000 years of pogroms and prejudice selected out Jews with lower IQs. Reading some of the tales of Jews masquerading successfully as gentiles to survive during WWII makes it obvious that intelligence is a survival trait.
A lot of non-Jewish people don't take the time to teach their children to become adults, they just teach them to be maintenance-free children. Children who are taught to be adults when they are children act like adults when they are adults. Children who are taught to be maintenance-free children when they are children act like children long after they should.
A Jewish parent would never say "Shut up and do as you are told" to his child.
The Jewish tradition of the Talmud encourages children to analyze and verbalize and think for themselves.
Telling your kid to shut up and do as he is told doesn't teach him anything.
Furthermore, the Bar Mitzvah ritual is not just a hollow gesture. It is the Mommy's official notice that her services are no longer required by her adolescent son. It is her official notice to leave him the Hell alone.
Non-Jewish mothers feel free to interfere with their son's lives as long as they please, which keeps the kid from learning to think for himself.
PS - I'm not Jewish, I am relating the things that a Jewish co-worker once postulated.
May not be able to bother much more about it and this is not what I’m looking for. But this is still interesting re my point:

I quickly counted 19 out of the 100 as Jewish. Disporportionate to world’s population, for sure.
“Furthermore, the Bar Mitzvah ritual is not just a hollow gesture. It is the Mommy’s official notice that her services are no longer required by her adolescent son. It is her official notice to leave him the Hell alone.
Non-Jewish mothers feel free to interfere with their son’s lives as long as they please, which keeps the kid from learning to think for himself.”
??? The interfering, advice-giving, kibbitzing, guilt-inducing Jewish mama is one of the oldest stereotypes around. A source of endless Jewish humor.
Ha-ha, so true. My I.Q. was rated as 145, but my wife always says I have no common sense. I have Jewish blood but raised as a Christian (and as a Democrat but I switched parties). My daughters are smart, excelled in school and their careers, but I attribute that to my wife bringing them up with family values.
“The people of the Middle East weren’t the same people as they are today.”
Gott danken.
This is like the Farside cartoon of the boy pushing against a door labeled “Pull” and the sign says “School for the Gifted.”
Believe it or not, I have a coffee mug with that Far Side cartoon. It’s actually “Midvale School for the Gifted.” :)
Smart people can have harmful addictions and exhibit irrational behavior. Mental illnesses don't necessarily correlate with intelligence level.
If the info in the article is correct, he has moved from the US to Scotland to get away from the PC environment here. I'm not sure how the two compare in terms of academic freedom (or lack thereof) in the areas of sociology that Murray researches and writes about.
Tony Judt is an archtypical Jewish leftist academic.
Yes, I’ve heard that theory too. This contrasts with the European Christian population in which many of the brightest individuals for centuries in medieval times were attracted to the clergy and thus were celibate. Since intelligence levels are about 2/3 the result of heredity (according to the general concensus of scientific opinion, as explained by Murray in “The Bell Curve”), the European Christian population as a whole experienced a “brain drain” over that period. Or so that line of reasoning goes.
- You might want to check the accuracy of this statement. I read several years ago that researchers had traced the entire homo sapiens gene pool back to one woman (they referred to her as Eve) who was born millennia ago somewhere in Africa. The research in this area is very interesting but gets highly technical very quickly. Try Google using “DNA, Eve” as the search parameters if you want to learn more of the background to all these findings.
I'm familiar with the African 'Eve.' Europeans are descended from only eight females who can trace their 'roots' to the African Eve many thousands of years prior.
"Sykes claims there are seven major mitochondrial lineages for modern Europeans but others put the number at 10-12. These additional "daughters" generally include haplogroups I, M and W[1]. A recent paper re-mapped European haplogroups as H, J, K, N1, T, U4, U5, V, X and W.[2] Likewise, Sykes has invented names for an additional 29 "clan mothers" worldwide, each corresponding to a different haplogroup identified by geneticists: "Fufei, Ina, Aiyana/Ai, Yumi, Nene, Naomi, Una, Uta, Ulrike, Uma, Ulla, Ulaana, Lara, Lamia, Lalamika, Latasha, Malaxshmi, Emiko, Gaia, Chochmingwu/Chie, Djigonasee/Sachi, Makeda, Lingaire, Lubaya, Limber, Lila, Lungile, Latifa and Layla."[3]"
In Sykes' latest book Celts, Saxons And Vikings, he admits that he should have had Eight daughters of Eve.
My male ancestors left Africa, crossed through the Middle-East on into Pakistan and China then crossed into Russia and then turned south on into Western Europe. They migrated out of the Franco-Iberian refuge at the end of the last Ice Age. After the LGM (Last Glacial Maximum), they migrated back north and are the Western Europeans of today.
