Rookie liberal Rep. John Hall already feeling heat from "Reagan Republican" USMC challenger
Congressional Quarterly (published in NY Times) ^ | April 11, 2007 | Marie Horrigan

New York Republican Kieran Michael Lalor, a veteran of the current Iraq war and a self-described “Reagan Republican,” is preparing to challenge freshman Democratic Rep. John Hall next year in the state’s 19th District.

Lalor alleged that Hall, who unseated six-term Republican Rep. Sue W. Kelly last November, has taken “far, far left” stances and is out of touch with the 19th, which includes the Hudson Valley and has historically voted Republican. “I want to kind of right this ship,” Lalor said.

John Hall is a slimeball who took RINO Sue Kelly's seat in the 11/2006 wave. Lalor is already getting noticed in a conservtive district that seems to be scratching its head over how Hall was elected.

I’m pretty happy with my new congressman (Tim Walberg) who took a RINO seat.

If the GOP can take back even a few of the seats they lost then there is some hope of regaining a majority perhaps in 2010 or ‘12. It is hard to believe how the bottom just fell out of the Repub vote in some districts, like Hall’s. Sue Kelly was reelected by a huge margin in ‘04, then in ‘06 she went down. Just stunning. Yet other marginal Republicans who won by far smaller margins in 2004 managed to win again this past year.

Here is a an excerpt from an earlier article I posted about Kieran:
1. Kieran Michael Lalor enlisted in the Marine Corps at age 24 and went to boot camp at Recruit Depot Parris Island and the School of Infantry at Camp Geiger, NC.

2. Kieran Michael Lalor spent his twenties serving as a Marine Corps grunt in Iraq, Japan, Ukraine, Norway, Camp Lejeune and elsewhere.

3. Kieran Michael Lalor understands that capitulation and appeasement will only embolden our ruthless enemies.

4. Kieran Michael Lalor has the support of military veterans all over the country. He is the fourth member of his family to have served in the Marine Corps having followed his father, brother and uncle into the Corps.

5. Kieran Michael Lalor served aboard the USS Iwo Jima.

6. Kieran Michael Lalor understands that when liberal entertainers run their mouths about national security issues they prove their ignorance and undermine our troop morale.

7. Kieran Michael Lalor is working tirelessly to raise the funds needed to overcome John Hall’s river of radical money from leftist celebrities so he can send Hall back to Woodstock where he belongs.

8. Kieran Michael Lalor understands that peace is achieved through strength.

9. Kieran Michael Lalor knows that we gave John Hall supporter Bill Clinton a chance and we got 9/11.

10. Kieran Michael Lalor knows from experience that premature withdrawal from Iraq would send a clear signal that the U.S. will quit when things get difficult, exponentially increase Iran's influence in the region, provide a safe haven for terrorists and squander the work and sacrifice of those who served and died in Iraq.

1. John Hall avoided military service with a suspect medical deferment but was healthy enough to become an Alpine Ski Instructor and sail his own yacht.

2. John Hall spent his twenties with Leftist entertainers condemning the United States and working on radical causes.

3. John Hall recently took to the floor of the House and surrendered to Al Qaeda and radical Islam by declaring that victory in Iraq was “not militarily achievable.”

4. John Hall has the active support of America-hater extraordinaire Susan Sarandon and a large cabal of Hollywood elites who don’t reflect American values.

5. John Hall recently sailed his yacht to Castro’s Cuba.

6. John Hall made a propaganda documentary with Jane Fonda in 1980 called “No Nukes.”

7. John Hall narrowly won election because a wealthy gay rights activist operating under an election law loop hole, laundered a half million dollars into his campaign.

8. John Hall believes that we are “aiding the recruitment of our enemies” when we proactively defend ourselves.

9. John Hall has the support of fellow draft dodger Bill Clinton who as Commander in Chief sat idly by while terrorists killed Americans in the first World Trade Center bombing, Somalia, Khobar Towers, Kenya, Tanzania and aboard the USS Cole.

10. John Hall’s Iraq policy to “extricate our troops as quickly as possible; the very definition of cut-and-run.

John Hall is wrong for New York's 19th Congressional District and he's wrong for America.

Why “Good to be rid of Sue Kelly”? I thought she did a pretty good job.

Good point - here’s his website. He will need some support because there have to be plenty of moneybags RINOs waiting to make a run, this is a vulnerable seat to say the least

LOL! Pretty tough choice here. Hall was a ski instructor, and as Socrates said: “If one wishes to preserve a Republic, one must elect ski instructors.”

Kelly used to be my congresscritter. She was pretty good, even voted for most of the articles of impeachment. I’d supported several of her campaigng. When redistricting occured after the 200 election..NY lost two seats. The legislature decided to eliminate one Dem district and one GOP district. The redrawn lines put Chappaqua into Nita Lowey’s district..GAG ME!! BTWE..Kelly ran an awful campaign last time out. She deserved to lose, IMHO..she could not give the voters a reason to re-elect her, or was afraid to do so. Hall is an idiot...hope and trust he’s a one-term wonder..

Truth is I was just trusting someone who said she wasn't a conservative. This is unfair because I don't know. So point taken. Nevertheless, she is gone and as someone else said, there will be several more liberal RINO challengers who in the long run be more problem than they are worth if elected.

The Democrat crazies are learning that those Blue Dogs that gave them the majority are one heck of a counterweight because they made a bunch of promises they couldn't keep.

Sue Kelly was a very fine Congresswoman and it’s sickening how people just spit RINO around here lately if someone doesn’t pass their sniff test.

Over 2,900,000 people in NY voted for President Bush in 2004, and Sue Kelly did more for the GOP than 99.9999% of the angry haters posting here ever will.

We win together as a team, or lose together separately.

call Sue Kelly whatever you want, but we didn’t win as the team you espouse. Kelly might have been a nice person and good loyal Republican but she ran away from whatever conservative principles she holds and that’s why she lost.

I hear you. Sounds like a sore nerve for you. But, yea this is a knew jerk place and I have been guilty of it as much as anyone else. The definition of RINO for most folks around here is anyone to their left. However, folks are really tired of friendly fire from so called Liberal Republicans like Lincoln Chafee that are a source of greater pain than the Democrats because we end up having to expend resources to save them despite their being the central obstacle to getting anything done. As I said, the Democrats are feeling this now.

Its a fascinating dynamic that may be more a solution than a problem in terms of checks and balances especially with the way power swings when the Houses of Congress swing from one party to another. If a veto proof coherent majority were to ever be in place there would be no check on Congressional power for the period of two years.

Yet folks keep wanting exactly this situation because they get so frustrated. Not smart. The extreme divide between the parties is a product of the times and is not likely to be settled until the appropriate response to the Islamist threat is settled. As folks with lots of money don't want this settled, it may be a while.

Please cite a couple of examples to back up your statement - The Sue Kelly I know did nothing of the sort.
