see the voting breakdown here - the metro suburbs are where Kerry won it. Of course, we expect the urban areas to go solidly Dem. But its what happening in the metro suburbs, the ones just outside the metroplxes, where republicans are losing their edge. and its not just in PA, its everywhere.

PA used to be a solid R state, then it was a swing state, now its becoming a solid Dem state. Virginia is sliding towards being a swing state. North Carolina will be next. Republicans have got to do better in these metro suburbs, and the social litmus test issues (alone) are not the answer to accomplishing that.

My prediction--if Casey's vote was needed to override a presidential veto, it would be there.

At the moment, though, I'm happy that Senator Casey chose to honor the principles upheld by his father, himself, and the Culture of Life.

God bless him!

Michael J. Fox did something that was really morally wrong. He used his sickness to promote a totally unproven and unethical form of medicine. While I feel for anyone with an affliction such as his, no one should ever manipulate people’s emotions like that to advance a political agenda.

I agree--Michael J. Fox is just another of the liberals' "untouchable" spokespeople as per Ann Coulter's observations in Godless. As Ann said, "If the left has arguments worth making, how about letting them be made by someone it's permissible to disagree with?"

You are missing something, Compare 2004 to 2000 and you will see that Kerry did not carry as much as Gore.. the state has been trending R even in Presidential elections.

There are 2 blue bastions in PA, Philly is the biggest, and Pittsburgh is the other.... SW Pa in paricular has a very noticable shift away from blue, with fewer and fewer outlying counties going blue.

Philly still goes hard blue, and in presidential elections is wrought with fraud. You can find more about Philly fraud in last presidential election all over the Net, but don’t expect it to be looked into by law enforcement.

This state is a pro life state... And Casey’s victory was more to do with a backlash against Santorum than Casey having broad support. Casey ain’t his daddy.

“Don’t count on it until the votes are tallied. I won’t believe this one until I see it.”

Now you can believe it: http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=110&session=1&vote=00127

Thanks for the information. I have another reason not to vote for McCain. Some Republican surprises here voting for the embryonic stem cell bill. What a bunch of mush heads. I give Casey credit for voting his conscience.

Meanwhile, successful research has shown that ADULT stem cell research is proving useful, especially in Type I Diabetes.

Well, in his campaign, he endorsed Alito’s confirmation.

If he wanted to pull the typical Democratic position, all he had to say was “no comment”.

He didn’t toe the party line here.

Some of you want to hate the guy. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt until he proves otherwise.

Again, as I said, he will vote against it when he has no cover to do otherwise, becaue he knows if he doesn’t he’ll lose his cushy job. However if you think he won’t vote down judges if they are anti-abortion because the party tells him to, you are naive.

In those cases he’ll have pleanty of cover to claim other reasons for the down vote.

He’ll tow the party line as long as he has cover on this issue... which he will have when it comes to Judicial appointments.

Adult stem cell research is proving more than “useful.” ASC has been successfully used in 72 different disease therapies and/or cures. It is not only ethical and moral, it is the only successful stem cell method available.

Shrug. There’s not much I can say when you have already condemned the man.

Just be prepared to be proven wrong.

How he votes when the override vote occurs will tell you more ... he could be the one vote to break the President’s veto.
