A far better way to solve the problem would be incentives for boomers to work until they are 70 (or older).

I have *no* problem with that. As things stand now my husband and I can't touch retirement until we're 70, so why should Boomers be allowed to retire before then? Will we be "less old" at 70 than Grandpa is now?

Yes.

You will be “less old” at 70 than Grandpa was at 70.

Please allow me to explain. When the Social Security system was set up, it was set up to pay out only the relatively FEW people who survived to age 65.

Now, there are relatively few people who WILL NOT SURVIVE to age 70.

There never was a deal, FDR gambled that y’all would die before he had to pay out...so he took the money and ran...for his generation and every generation after.

HOWEVER...WE TOLD YOU SO...more than a decade ago.
