It has now been 64 days since President Bush requested that Congress pass emergency funds for our troops.
The United States Senate has come back from its spring recess today. The House will return next week. When it comes to funding our troops, we have no time to waste. It's time for them to get the job done. So I'm inviting congressional leaders from both parties -- both political parties -- to meet with me at the White House next week. At this meeting, the leaders in Congress can report on progress on getting an emergency spending bill to my desk. We can discuss the way forward on a bill that is a clean bill: a bill that funds our troops without artificial timetables for withdrawal, and without handcuffing our generals on the ground. The Democrat leaders in Democratic leaders in Congress are bent on using a bill that funds our troops to make a political statement about the war. They need to do it quickly and get it to my desk so I can veto it, and then Congress can get down to the business of funding our troops without strings and without further delay.

President Bush Discusses Iraq War Supplemental, War on Terror [Full Text]
It is irresponsible for the Democratic leadership in Congress to delay for months on end while our troops in combat are waiting for the funds they need to succeed.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

Hi.
I love this president! Cheney too :-)
How are you tonight?
Howdy. :)
Good evening!

President Bush delivers remarks on the Iraq war supplemental
Here early!

President Bush delivers remarks on the Iraq war supplemental
.
PLEASE PRAY FOR PRESIDENT BUSH AND OUR BELOVED TROOPS!
hi everyone
Evening. :)
I have talked to these people until I am blue in the face
..
..and have a tremendous headache!
REPEATEDLY reaching out to them has not worked
..
..and has left me with an aching heart.
We are at war!
It is irresponsible for the Democratic leadership in Congress to delay for months on end while our troops in combat are waiting for the funds they need to succeed.

If terorists pulled off another 9/11 here, I honestly think the democrats would blame it on President Bush. Their hatred and lust for power is that deep.

President Bush greets veterans after speaking about the Iraq war supplemental,

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice answers a question from a participant at the Edward R. Murrow Journalism Program at the State Department in Washington April 10, 2007.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice smiles after speaking
Condi you grow more beautiful every day!
you KNOW they will, and it’s when not if it happens. Some of them probably have their speeches already written just for the occasion when it happens.

Q Senator Reid said today, in response to the President's invitation to come down and talk, he said the President has to deal with Congress and he has got to listen to us, and that what the President is offering is not a negotiation.
MS. PERINO: I'm not quite sure where to begin with all that, because, first of all, they have known for 64 days that the President needed this money for the troops. Secondly, they've known for well over a month -- before they even passed the two bills, one out of the House and one out of the Senate -- that the President would veto it, based on the arbitrary time line in terms of a date for a forced retreat, the micromanaging that they put into the bill that would handcuff our generals on the ground, and then the extra pork barrel spending that they had to include in order to get the ball across the finish line.
On March 28th, Senator Reid points to a letter he sent to the President, saying that they wanted to sit down and talk. So now that the President, after their two-week recess, says, why don't we have this discussion, I'm not quite sure I can understand why he so, out of hand, rejects the President's offer to meet. It was a knee-jerk reaction and it was quite unfortunate. The invitation stands; we would like for them to come down and talk with us.
[snip] Senator Reid has me very confused. On the one hand, he says that they want to fund the troops. But on the other hand
at what price are they going to give this money to the troops? They believe that the war either cannot be won, or that it has already been lost. And so if they have the courage of their convictions and they really want to cut off funding for the troops, then they should go ahead and do that.
The entire briefing is a MUST READ and viewing it is even better, as seen here!
This poster asked for our help getting word to the powers that be. The person has now lived in the Mid-East for a number of years and is extremely concerned with the recent visit by Americas shadow government.
Guys, it is Saturday night over here now and I am aware of this subject being discussed in depth with officials from two Middle East countries right now as I type this.
Our nation has sent a very dangerous mixed message to the entire world ~
Im actually taken aback that the topic was brought up to me this morning by a government offical from a Middle Eastern country who actually suggested that this looked like a coup. That kind of talk coming from a diplomat is not a joking matter.
If there are 'influencial' FReepers, they need to be aware of this ~ so please help ~ this is not good and the effects from this are going to wreck havoc with any of our nation's diplomatic efforts in the future.
I understand that normally our nation has followed the path of just lettting the crazies in congress do whatever the hell they wanted overseas ~ but this time it is different ~
I called a number of Congressmen today, all of the conservative variety. When I was told that they are doing a balancing act right now because congress is the most popular it has been in a very long time I nearly fell off my chair laughing. Asking how they could say something like that I was told according to the polls ..
This is unfathomable to me. After explaining that polls (spit) are meant to SHAPE public opinion, not GAGE it and congratulating them on falling for it I hung up, unsure if I should laugh or cry!
