WASHINGTON, April 10 (UPI) — The producer of a publicly funded documentary on Islamic extremism blames politics for his work being axed from public TV's "America at a Crossroads".
Martyn Burke says his documentary, Islam vs. Islamists, was dropped by executives at station WETA in Washington and the Public Broadcasting Service after he refused to fire two co-producers associated with a conservative think tank, the Arizona Republic reported Tuesday.
"I was ordered to fire my two partners (who brought me into this project) on political grounds", Burke said in a Feb. 23 letter to PBS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which financed the project.
Burke contends the public TV station and PBS are "silencing" Islamic moderates, such as M. Zuhdi Jasser of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, who oppose Islamic extremism, and promote patriotism and secular democracy.
Jeff Bieber, WETA's executive producer for "Crossroads", found Burke's film had serious structural problems (and) ... was irresponsible because the writing was alarmist, and it wasn't fair.
"They're crying foul, and there was no foul ball", Bieber said. The problem is in their film.

All funding for PBS (Partisan BS) should be dropped regardless of how this comes out. It is a violation of my rights to be forced to, in effect, advocate partisan opinions.
The Democrats and the media are leftists and are therefore the enemy of freedom and of our military power. The last two Democrat administration, Carter and Clinton, cut our existing military by half. Both are obviously against the USA as we have historically existed.
We must defeat them or cease to exist.

we were never able to cut off PBS. It is a worse boondoggle than it was before cable and the net. The rationale for it is gone, people have much more available sources than the broadcast networks and the left loves it for propaganda.
I am in agreement with you but would add that this is truly a case of good versus evil, God versus Satan. I can’t imagine a more graphic example than now.
