But in watching the Fred Thompson phenomenon develop, I am coming to a different opinion, one that might explain the clear political apathy of the average American voter and the current Fred Thompson fever all in one shot...
.. The problem is looking more like a nationwide state of extreme political boredom. A case of a nation bored into a trance, or a deep slumber by a nauseatingly boring group of over-stuffed politically correct and morally bankrupt blowhards saying nothing..
..Eventually, it all just blurs together to make one big boring indistinguishable white noise and nobody is listening anymore. Why should they? Nobody’s saying anything...
..And that my friends, is what people like about former two term, then back to the real world, plain spoken Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson. I mean aside from the fact the he is a professionally trained orator capable of completing a sentence using only his own thoughts and no old cue cards from any political party campaign guru...
..Fred Thompson stands out in the crowd like a real live candidate with a mind of his own, even when trying not to slip up and accidentally agree to run for president. And as long as he retains his traditional irreverence for Washington nonsense, he will continue to be popular among voters who can very much relate to that uncommonly outspoken irreverence....
...And that’s why folks all over this nation are sitting on their wallets waiting to see if Fred will answer the people’s call before committing a penny to the ’08 political circus already center stage and raging out of control, a year before the primaries are even supposed to begin...

Why do I get the feeling there is this mad scramble at wideasleep to dig up dirt on Fred and then deluge FR with it?
Solution....cut the payroll.
Because Thompson is no better or worse than Rudy-McCain-Rommney.
He is a liberal on immigration and abortiona and some just seem to ignore that reality and support him to keep it “real”, even though its not real, which makes it pathetic.

The American Spectator has dug up a 1994 interview with Thompson in which told a libertarian newsletter that the ultimate decision to have an abortion “must be made by the woman.” Thompson, of course, now says he’s pro-life; but, hey, so does Mitt Romney—and you know how some conservatives feel about him. Gallup poll results don’t support the article’s assertions, just the opposite.
RG leading by 38% with everyone in and 42% w/o Newt.
Also, his favorability rating is 77% among R-s and 61% among all adults.
In the meantime, Fred Thompson gets 10%, going up to 12% w/o Newt and his favorability rating is 35% among R-s (with 58% no opinion) and 24% among all adults (with 65% no opinion).
Looks like most people never heard of FT. And some people are deluded and think he can beat Hillary?!
At the same time most people recognize a leader, when they see one — Giuliani. 77% fav rating among R-s and 61% overall is no small feat.

If you can't see how Thompson is far better on platform issues than Rudy McRomney, I can't help you.
Ill add I dont even dislike Thompson, Im sure hed be pretty good, but its insane conservatives havent given him the cold shoulder like Rommney and Rudy...
I will not argue with any current poll numbers- though I must admit to being pleasantly surprised that Fred has done as well as he has.
Let’s wait and see what happenes when he announces.
