NEW YORK - A CBS News producer was fired and the network apologized after a Katie Couric video essay on libraries was found to be plagiarized from The Wall Street Journal.
The essay was removed from the CBS Web site and an editors note was posted saying the item should have credited Jeffrey Zaslow of the Journal, the network said Tuesday.

Because then everyone would start investigating everything else that he produced.

I find it fitting that Britney Spears is alongside the article laughing......it almost seems intentional.

I think the funniest thing about this story is that it was the producer that was filed for plagiarism. That means that CBS is as much as admitting that producers write the text of Katie Couric’s video essays, and she just reads them into the camera.
Isn’t the whole point of Perky Katie’s little sermonettes that they are a window into her own thinking about the various issues of the day? Who wants to know what a junior producer at CBS thinks about something?

,
CBS would not identify the producer fired for the transgression. Why not? You don't think the public can handle the truth?
To: John W
Do you mean to say that Katie just reads whatever they put in front of her, without doing any news work or writing of her own?
I’m shocked, shocked. I thought she was a serious news person.
Well, they learned one thing from Dan Rather anyway: When you get caught, don’t deny it, throw somebody expendable overboard.

Oh boy. That’ll be a photo finish.

Because then everyone would start investigating everything else that he produced.Precisely.
And I wonder what stories he/she "produced" during recent political campaign seasons. This producer might be a Mary Mapes protege.

Good grief! The guy probably thought he wouldn't get caught because "no one with any sense (our viewers) reads the Wall Street Journal" and "those jerks over there don't watch CBS."
HAHAHAHA!

Schadenfreude to the Max. Time for the Pajama Bloggers to do their magic, and find out who he was and what other essays are plagiarism, not authentic.

A CBS News producer was fired and the network apologized after a Katie Couric video essay on libraries was found to be plagiarized from The Wall Street Journal. Plagiarized from the WSJ? Interesting, the WSJ is one of the more balanced editorial boards in the MSM today. In fact, I often tell my liberal acquaintances who think the NY Times is bible ... to read the WSJ editorial pages in order to get a smidgen of balance in their liberal world.
