Both Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama said they would not participate in a presidential debate sponsored by Fox News Channel, throwing the event in jeopardy. The two senators joined former Sen. John Edwards, who announced on Friday he would not participate in the debate, one of four being held by the Congressional Black Caucus Institute.
The Congressional Black Caucus contracted with Fox to co-sponsor two of its debates -- one Democratic and one Republican -- and gave the two others to CNN.
But now the top three Democrats in the race have said they will not participate in the Democratic debate co-sponsored by Fox, which was scheduled for Sept. 23 at the Fox Theater in Detroit.
A spokesman for Obama, who is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, told ABC News he would decline, saying "CNN seems to be a more appropriate host."

BTTT
Congressional Black Caucus - wheres Imus when you need him.
This is a joke - I guess the republican candidates should refuse to debate on NBC,CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC etc... Wont happen its apparant that the republicans dont have balls.
This carp will do nothing but bolster FOX. Dumb bastard leftists.
The Dems can’t win over Independents by just taking friendly questions from the libs at CNN. That’s what is great about Fox News, you know the questions they’ll get will be fair and balanced, and will challenge them from the left and the right.
I’d like to see someone approach the CBC and the Democrat candidates offering to move the debate from FNC to Al Jazeera and see if they voice any objection.
And, if they do send someone else to approach them offering to move the debates from FNC to the Playboy Channel and see if they voice any objection.
Agreed, this will bolster Fox News. This will make people realize that the Democrats are being blindly led by MoveOn.org and the netroots.
Given that Fox News is the highest rated cable news channel and actually has some of the highest ratings of any cable channel, the Dem candidates are losing out on a valuable platform to spread their message . . . whatever it may be. That’s the way to win an election.
Have the debate anyways. Set up an empty podium for each missing democrat.
