NEW YORK (AP) - CBS Radio and MSNBC both said Monday they were suspending Don Imus' morning talk show for two weeks as a protest grew about his reference last week to members of the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy- headed hos."
The suspension begins next Monday.
MSNBC, which telecasts the radio show, said Imus' expressions of regret and embarrassment, coupled with his stated dedication to changing the show's discourse, made it believe suspension was the appropriate response.
"Our future relationship with Imus is contingent on his ability to live up to his word," the network said....[snip]
[snip].... The Rev. Jesse Jackson and about 50 people marched Monday outside Chicago's NBC tower to protest Imus' comments. He said MSNBC should abandon Imus and MSNBC should hire more black pundits......"

It’s only gotten this bad because Imus long ago tried to immerse himself in the Beltway establishment (last refuge of a scoundrel, or a crappy talk host). He’s always been a jerk and I can remember people calling him a bigot when he was at WNBC; now the stakes are higher for him, that’s all.

Hey Imus, there is a slot on Sirius SAtellite radio along with Howard Stern. The 1st Amendment is alive and well once you leave the MSM.
No biggie. Probably with pay anyway. And his liberal ass kissing guests will be back on the minute he’s back. He’s always spouting racist remarks, but shields himself by sucking up to leftist media types and democrats in general.
Why in God’s name is Michelle Malkin coming out against him? He can say whatever the hell he wants - this is really ridiculous. Whites get made fun of constantly, but we’re supposed to think it’s funny, endearing, etc. Ridiculous to feed the double standard. PLUS why in the HELL go on with Sharpton? He’s some moral authority? What a joke.
The brouhaha generated by this has surprised me - and I’m betting that as Sharpton’s ego gets even more inflated by the temporary scalping of Don Imus that an attack on Rush cannot be far behind. Not that it will work, but it has to be in the formulations stage as I slap this keyboard.
Rush was fired INSTANTLY from ESPN . . . and for comments FAR LESS SERIOUS than “nappy-headed hos”.
