How is GWB gonna LEGALLY attack Iran w/o the consent of Congress?

The notion that the Commander in Chief requires permission from Congress to protect the country is nonsense. Even the so called "War Powers Act" allows the President to commence hostilities, but requires a report to Congress within a certain time. The Congress is always free to cut off funding.

But I agree that in General Congress is the most powerful branch, or would be if the Constitution were still followed, just not in Foreign Affairs.

Do you seriously believe GWB will attack Iran in the next 22 months? With no backing from Congress, EU, NATO, or UN?

Seems to me he spent many months gathering this very support before attacking Iraq. Why would he do different?

Furthermore, GWB could have pitched a fit about the Brit hostages, saying the coalition had been attacked (it had!), & started bombing Iran last week. But he didn’t! Actually, he did no more than the EU, NATO, & the UN. Talk!

I’ll bet he has a file full of Iranian attacks on coalition forces, yet what is he hiding them for? His memoirs? No, this is not a man who wants war with Iran now.

I don’t think he will start something this dangerous that he cannot complete while in office, & would be fearful of leaving the unfinished task to his successor, Pub or Rat.

I see GWB spending the next 22 months trying to bring stability to Iraq, a huge task that will require his full attention, both politically & militarily. A war with Iran is not in his cards, unless Iran were to blatantly attack us first.

Nothing I’d like better that to flatten the mullahs, amanutjob, the nuke plants, & the Iranian military. I just think GWB’s plate is full!
