Thank you, OXENinFLA for putting together the below comments and links!
.
Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and we will try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let us know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate ,
Senate Republicans and Senate Democrats
And Monthly Calendars for the House and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
too late .. already heard him basically call AG a liar
Oh...dear, Schmuckie giving a presser??
Who called Gonzo a liar, Schmuckie or Leahy?
Yep...that is what this is all about...taking the White House DOWN.
He’s been asked several times if he is willing to go to court on this ... but he won’t answer the question .. he keeps dodging
Thanks, Sleuth. I’m multitasking, and mostly missing stuff. :-/
Okay...Schmuckie just said they will challenge in court the “executive privilege”...and a reporter asked that since Pres. Bush’s name was brought in through today’s questioning, wouldn’t that make it even MORE under executive prvilege.
All Schmuck says is “it is too soon to tell”...
WHAT A RAT!!!
Says after today he doesn’t see how the WH can keep him
Chucky almost sounded disappointed that Gonzo didn’t put up more of a fight. that little presser hanging on the back of the chairs was the real Chucky.
It’s all about the game, never about the honor...
A reporter asked if since Specter did NOT ask for Gonzo’s resignation...does that mean the DEMS agenda took a step backward.
Schmuckie said “oh, no....I think with the skepticism of the GOP members, the AG took about 25-30 steps backward”..
This is all about PR and Politics
Arlen Specter is not the whole GOP
YEP!!
They want to get Rove to do what Gonzo did today...and then Cheney, and then Bush.
“Please beat me...I am sorry...”
blech
Is that Congressman Davis from Utah the same one who is calling for a lie detector test for Berger?
I know, but Coburn sat there today a TOLD Gonzo to resign...and Cornyn and Grassley were not far behind.
Yes..but he is from Virginia...which makes his being on the Dems’ side on this bill so bizarre.
What’s John Bolton up to these days???? ;-)
Oh..and one other thing.
This Rep. Davis (R) from Virginia also voted WITH the dems on that anti-Bush plan resolution a few weeks ago.
All of that makes me suspect that his going after Berger may have more to do with gigging the Bush Administration than getting Berger.
He did??
Oh geez .. I swear this party is friggin stupid stupid stupid
LOL...I don’t know, but I have seen him interviewed on Fox News.
The problem is...Bolton would never get confirmed for any position.
