The problem with Newt, is that he believed his initial early press. He actually behaved not unlike Pelosi, in usurping Presidential authority, to the point where Clinton had to come out and say he was "still relevant".
Newt did what he always does, which is talk way to much, always looking to be the smartest guy in the room. Clinton let Newt hang himself in arrogance, exactly the way Pelosi is doing to herself right now.
It is time to understand that the House of Representatives is not a storehouse for brilliance. This is something the Duncan Hunter throngs need to understand too.
You are right about Newt, and I remember he did go to Taiwan I believe and not agree with Clinton. That was nothing like this sedition by Pelosi and Hoyer, but the DBM is accusing Newt of doing the same thing to Clinton.
