He should have left with his head held high, but the infighting and the stretch for Power left him impotent. He has recovered a lot, but he will never have the same status as he had. I do not believe that he ever got over the trashing he got in the beginning from the DBM with their childishly obvious “Gingrich that stole Christmas” cover of the Magazine.
