I thought that line was a bit over the top, too. Maybe it is good entertainment (don’t know - never seen it) and maybe it has spawned some decent writing and creativity. I sure hope so because TV was pretty much a wasteland back when I dumped my set during Gulf War I. Still, speaking about a bunch of gangsters as anything close to normal is a slap at middle America pure and simple.
If I were Tony, I’d have this writer killed.

The Sopranos is a real bright spot, no pun intended, in television. It's got great writing, great acting, and a very good story line.
I don't think it's over the top to say it saved television drama. It's for damn sure the big three don't have anything that comes close to it.
