I get tired of the comparisons to poor Neville Chamberlain. It only took him one year to wake up-- between the Munich agreement and Hitler's invasion of Poland. True, he wasn't much of a leader, but at least he eventually smelled the coffee and had the decency to give way to Churchill.
My view of Neville Chamberlain is about the same as yours--Winston Churchill has some good words for him in his history of WWII.
