They have been touting the mp3 player on TV for the last year or so as an educational tool. Student can download audio of class lectures etc. and listen to them over and over. It would be good if you missed a lot of classes or couldn’t write well enough to take notes I suppose or if you had Dyslexia, but I still don’t see that it should be something the taxpayers should foot the bill for. Aren’t there foundations that donate stuff like that for special needs kids? Our economy sucks here in northern Michigan. Everyday you hear about schools being shut because they don’t have the money to operate.

If IPods have become a right in MI, what of the parents who have already paid for ones for their own children? Aren’t they due a refund for the state-authorized expense?

“Michigan is the Louisiana/Missippi of the North and Midwest. “

You wish.

As an I-pod/MP3 player is relatively worthless without a computer, what do they expect these kids would do with their free digital player? The vast majority of these devices would end up in pawn shops or being sold for a fraction of their value.

I also fail to see the educational value of this give away. What do the Legislators expect to accomplish by giving students the means to listen to gangsta rap, Insane Clown Posse and other such drivel? Maybe they could just buy up and give away those leftover Mozart CDs that were being given out in Georgia a few years ago as an attempt to raise IQ.

You get the award for nailing it in 6 words or less. “Need will constantly redefined upward.”

That’s it in a nutshell, folks. Through legislation, statute, rule or mandate, the incentives for hard work and being responsible are vanishing. The incentive to vote, however, is now critical. We must vote for those who reward hard work and responsibility. (Or at least those who would not seek to penalize us for it.) We cannot risk throwing away everything by staying home on election day because we don’t agree 100% with a candidate.

Thanks. Should have been six words. “Need will constantly redefined upward” should have been “Need will constantly BE redefined upward”. Spell check is good. Missing word check would be even better!

I suppose they come installed with some typical moveon.org screed.

I think it’s pretty smart.

True, or possibly come already outfitted with subliminal messages intended to lead the children to grow into Dummie voters. Clever.

I’m being deprived. I don’t have an iPod. I demand that the state of South Carolina buy one for me.
