BAGHDAD The Basra police commander on Friday said the roadside bomb used in an attack that killed four British soldiers had not been used in southern Iraq before, and his description of the deadly weapon indicated it was a feared Iranian-designed explosively formed projectile.
Anbar province has been a stronghold of the Sunni insurgency but many tribes in the region recently switched allegiance, with large numbers of military-age men joining the police force and Iraqi army in a bid to expel Al Qaeda in Iraq fighters.
The U.S. military has claimed Iran is supplying Shiite militia fighters in Iraq with explosively formed projectiles, known as an EFP. They hurl a molten, fist-sized copper slug capable of piercing armored vehicles.
The four British soldiers including two women were killed Thursday as the American military announced the deaths of eight more U.S. soldiers since Tuesday.
The Basra region police commander, Maj. Gen. Mohammed al-Moussawi, said two similar bombs had been discovered Friday morning; one was discovered on the road leading to Basra Palace, the compound that houses a British base and the British and U.S. consulates. A second was uncovered in the western Hayaniyah district where Thursday's attack occurred. The area is known as a stronghold of the Mahdi Army, a militia loyal to radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.

Who cares. A bomb is a bomb is a bomb.
Quit bitching and take it.
Why? Just sow a lot of antipersonnel bomblets in, say, Qum.
Iran has declared war on the US and Britain by murdering our service people with their cowardly roadside bombs. They want to desroy our ally Israel. So how long should we wait until we destroy all of their military and government and help the decent people of Iran finally have their country back? I hope it is not after we lose a city.
Paging Ms. Pelosi...cleanup on aisle 4.
In my book, now is the time to act. You can not ask for better reason.
Yep, We need to stand up and be counted as the super power we are, or continue to dwindle.. the time is now or never.. soon it will be oo late
yes, as horrible is it is...they need to be dealt with similar to Japan in wwII or alot more innocents will be murdered. And we might have our backs to the wall if we wait too long.
Iraqis indicting Iranians over Brit killings, look ma no hands, ping.
I have always respected the Britons because they have a strong back bone and fight with great strength and honor.
I appreciate the help they have given us. I guess we should just support what they choose to do. But if they choose to do something about this, I would fully support what ever action they took.
It seems to me that the world and the media turns a blind eye to this in regards to the evil of Amadjihad taking hostages and making bombs. But just because they turn a blind eye, it still don’t mean that Iran should not go unpunished.

I’m still trying to wrap my mind around the 15 sailors and marines behavior.
There was something I read last week about the point in time that Western Civilization capsized. I thought it was Wretchard, but I think it may have been a thread on FR.
Sadly, there is only flotsam and jetsam that remains bobbing on the ocean. Some of it may wash up on American shores, but that will be all that’s left . . .
“I have always respected the Britons because they have a strong back bone and fight with great strength and honor.”
Too bad the de-balled their military with funding cuts, and spent the money on social welfare programs instead.
