Giuliani Memo Suggests Strength Among Conservatives
Political Wire ^ | April 6, 2007

An internal Rudy Giuliani strategy memo "says conservative voters already know and are comfortable with the candidate. The March 22 memo, a copy of which was obtained by The State, quotes polls from Gallup and Newsweek that show Giuliani with a wide lead among self-described conservatives and regular churchgoers and a slim lead among those who say they attend church weekly."

Writes strategist Brent Seaborn: "There are, of course, some voters that will never vote for Mayor Giuliani, and we know that we will see polls tighten. But the 'when voters find out about Rudy’s record the sky will fall' notion is a myth."

They appear to be concluding that conservative results are more important than conservative doctrine. At least that’s my take on it.

Too easy.

Vote Romney in 2008.

Your screen name, and Madame Pelosi’s recent excursion, say it all. Rudy may be too liberal for some, Mitt too Mormon for others, etc., but the mission is clear: We had better elect a Republican President in 2008, or turn the country over to the latter-day hippie moonbats. I wish it wasn’t that cut-and-dried, but it is.

How does he define conservative?

Find the middle ground on FR and cut it in half.

And don’t discount the impact of Bush Fatigue - clearly, it’s worse for Dubya six years into his run than it ever was for Clinton. He has 18+ months to turn that around a bit, at least.

What is cut and dried is that the powers that be in neither party put the country and its peoples best interests first and haven’t for quite some time, imo.

You can spin that and deny that any way you and others here want and please be my guest refuting it.

A class of political elites in conjunction with corporate interests and globalist scoundrels rule today and common folk have little say for the most part in what goes on these days.

“says conservative voters already know and are comfortable with the candidate.”

That goes against other polls then.

“One-third of voters take issue with a presidential candidate who supports gun control or has been married three times like Rudy Giuliani, a new Time magazine poll shows.......30 percent couldn’t back a candidate who favors gun control, while another 35 percent have trouble with someone with three marriages. That includes 48 percent of “born-again” white Christians. But the survey also shows 56 percent don’t know Giuliani’s marital history, 68 percent don’t know his stand on gun control (he’s been saying it’s a state matter), and nearly 80 percent don’t accurately know where he is on abortion rights (he favors it)....Giuliani is partly an unknown quantity nationally..”

Rudy’s poll numbers are going down. His weeklong string of gaffes certainly haven’t helped matters.

“How does he define conservative?”

You know, the usual. For gun control, pro abortion, pro illegal alien.

Pretty typical conservative fare.

You make good points, as always.

As for me it comes down to this: I have seen the Democrats in power; I have seen the Republicans in power; they may not be perfect, God knows, but I’ll take the GOP every time.

And we’d better win back Congress, too.

I admit, I am intrigued by the possibility of Fred Thompson running. However, I need to know more before I support him.

I have seen the Republicans in power; they may not be perfect, God knows, but I’ll take the GOP every time.

They are becoming more alike as time passes. The socialists have controlled the Democrats for a long time and are gaining control of the Republicans. They are essentially one party. Conservatives need to restore the two party system by forming their own party.

All she needs is an (R) next to her name and I’m sure some here would support her.

That was last month. A lot of conservatives like Rudy’s strong leadership and, perhaps, like me were willing to see if he would change on some of his questionable views.

BUT, since his stupid remark to CNN about federal funding of abortion as a constitutional right, I doubt that the figures will hold.

If he thinks that’s a constitutional right, then his idea of the constitution and of “strict construction” is NOT conservative.
