Velazquez-Nava, 24, had a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit when the crash occurred early Wednesday on Pacific Coast Highway, police said. He is a native of Mexico who federal authorities said was in the U.S. illegally.

The crash killed Clark, the director of "A Christmas Story" and the "Porky's" movies, and his son Ariel, 22.

Velazquez-Nava suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Today’s Los Angeles Times reports that Hector Velazquez-Nava was driving not just drunk but three times the legal limit when he collided with Bob Clark and his son on Wednesday night. The man who killed Bob Clark is listed as a resident of Los Angeles but, according to E Online, he is officially a Mexican national illegally in the United States. Spokeswoman for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, Lori Haley, confirmed that Hector Velazquez-Nava was in the country illegally.

TMZ reports that Hector Velazquez-Nava was charged today with two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while he was intoxicated. If he is convicted in the deaths of Bob Clark and his son, Hector Velazquez-Nava might go to jail for twelve years. The site reports, in conflict with the Times, that Hector Velazquez-Nava pleaded not guilty to the charges after they were issued, but both sources note that he’s being kept in jail unable to pay a $200,000 bail.

I can’t believe the same guy directed BOTH of these movies. A Christmas Story is about as wholesome as you can get but Porky’s originally got an “X” rating, later cut to “R”.

More ammunition for O’reilly to yell at Geraldo over.

Did ya’ll see that on “The Factor” last night?

If you didn’t you may have heard about it on just about any talk radio show today.

Both them boys about had a full meltdown. It was excellent.

I had the Fox News Channel on this morning. I wasn’t actually watching it, but only listening as I was doing some things on the computer. At one point there was a segment which showed a heated argument between Bill O’Reilly and Geraldo Rivera. I’m assuming the confrontation took place on Bill’s show last night(?), and that it was about this accident. Bill was making a point about the guy being an illegal alien and how he should have been tossed out of the country by authorities after his first arrest, and Geraldo was arguing that it wasn’t an issue of the guy being here illegally; that the issue was drunk driving. It was a pretty heated discussion with both men pointing their fingers in the others’ face. I didn’t see the actual program with the full exchange, so I don’t know how it actually started.

Velazquez-Nava does not have documentation of legal U.S. residency, nor does he appear to have ever had a U.S. driver's license, authorities said.

No insurance either. This is so common. Many cases the alien never gets charged, never sees the inside of a jail and doesn't go to court, yet remains in the country. Privileged characters. When will law enforcement, prosecuting attorneys, immigration services and others involved start doing their jobs?

Hector Velazquez-Nava might go to jail for twelve years.

Please give him the same jail conditions of his wonderful homeland. We can't have him getting home sick now.

A long-ago ex-boyfriend of mine lost his oldest kid to a drunk illegal a few years back. The POS illegal was drunk on his @$$, and had neither registration, license, nor insurance. His whole family was in the car with him. He lied to the investigator and said that the driver "went that-a-way!" By the time they'd figured out he was lying, his blood alcohol level went down.

But here's the part I can't understand: They never even arrested this POS for manslaughter! He apparently got away scot-free.

A few years later, my friend lost another of his three kids to a hit-and-run driver in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they had moved some years prior. That driver has never been found. He plowed into the girl and kept on going. It is not known for sure, but according to witnesses he might have been Hispanic.

It was pretty funny. Geraldo simply wouldn’t consider the fact that the director and his son wouldn’t have been killed if the guy hadn’t been here illegally. Obviously drunk drivers are a hugh problem in this country. In the recent past several people have been killed in accidents with illegals. Geraldo deserved a smackdown.

To all those that say it is just a case of Drunk Driving vs. Illegals....

If he took out a gun and shot these people would it be just a case of homicide? If he sold them drugs and they were Overdoses, would it be just another Drug case?

The reason they are dead is because this person is here to perform the crime. And he has no legal right to be here. There is something wrong with the argument that this tragedy was just another Drunken Driver on the road.

I was watching the whole thing when it happened last night and I thought O'Reilly was going to punch Geraldo's lights out (and he should have). Geraldo is Hispanic so I guess he thinks he is defending his own. But he is WRONG on ILLEGALS.

Geraldo Rivera, senior correspondent for Fox News, told a group of Hispanic journalists vigilantes had created "hysteria along the borders" and advised his colleagues not to "let your newsroom push you around on the issue of immigration."

"Bust them on their hypocrisy," Rivera said at the annual awards gala of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists in Washington last week, according to a report by the Robert C. Maynard Institute of Journalism Education.

ALIPAC reported Velazquez-Nava didn't have any previous deportations but had been convicted in 2004 in Los Angeles of soliciting a prostitute. Court records revealed he was given 24 months probation and a $1,500 fine after pleading no contest.

It was a set-up.

both sources note that he's being kept in jail unable to pay a $200,000 bail.

The good news is that if he does manage to post bail ICE will take custody of him.

Man Faces Deportion After Fatal Crash

If he posts bail, Velazquez-Nava would be taken into federal custody on the immigration hold, [ICE spokeswoman Virginia] Kice said.
