Additional info

In a press statement, the city government said the U.S. consulate had been advised of the detention, and that U.S. law enforcement sources said the man - who has not yet been formally charged - had spent time in prison in New Mexico for auto theft.

U.S. consulate employees were not immediately available to comment on the report.

The man was found in possession of various identification cards - apparently false - identifying him as a bounty hunter and a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.

Police also said they found about 100 photos of the man hugging young girls, as well as hypodermic needles.

His landlord, Jose de la Campa, said the man had frequently brought underage girls to the room during the seven months he had rented it, and sometimes stayed inside with them for as long as three days at a stretch.

It took the landlord seven months to figure out what was going on?
