California Senate leader Perata -D) seeks out-of-Iraq voter initiative

The state Senate leader on Thursday announced plans for an advisory ballot measure calling for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, hoping to prompt debate among presidential candidates campaigning in California.

Perata said he has sent letters to other states with early 2008 presidential primaries — including New York and New Jersey — in hopes of creating a “national referendum” on the war next February.

The proposal, which will almost certainly speed through the Democratically controlled Legislature, will present the Republican governor a variety of partisan problems


Dem Angelides would sign it, Arnold will veto it — of course conservatives are very glad to have Arnold as gov.

Wow! How brave of him, considering that the measure is absolutely meaningless and has no consequences whatsoever.
