my own prediction - absent Roe, 2 states would outlaw abortion for adult women in the first trimester - Utah and Mississippi. and be able to sustain it through their election and legislative process.

and when that became apparent, I guarantee you that social conservatives would be back asking for an activist SCOTUS on the flipside, finding some constitutional prohibition for first trimester abortions.

Not going to lose any sleep over this one. CBS is still CBS and the organization’s Leftist as “H”, especially with the hiring of Kaplan.

San Jose State is one of the most Liberal located in the heart of Liberal Northern California.

With Dems (FOB’S) buying up, and/or positioning pro Hillary personnel throughout the MSM, any poll from these sources has to be questionable.

“Most conservatives are quite intelligent and logical.”

I agree.

I would also say that most conservatives wouldn’t support a RINO. How do we expect things to get better if we keep telling everyone (candidates followed by an “R”) that we’ll accept a run to the left? There’s nothing logical about compromising to the point that you become your polar opposite.

Maybe you should direct your angst at politicos instead.. just a thought. I don’t think you take enough time off if you don’t know what decade you think other folks areliving in.. or what forum you might really belong at.

“Republicans don’t equal conservatives, morons! “

Don’t you think “moron” fits more the person who throws insults around without checking facts?

See last page at link below. They have approval numbers by party and SEPARATE ones by political philosophy. Only YOU claimed that they didn’t differentiate between Conservatives and Republicans. Now don’t you wish, you had read, before throwing around words like “moron” at others?

OH, PS, I used to come to FR to get away from socialists posing as Republicans, now they are all over the place and don’t even pretend to be anything but “Progressives”.

Your “facts” and abilities to distinguish them from reality both leave a lot to be desired, you peddle poop and hope folks step on it and spread it for you knowingly.
shill is too kind a word in your case.

and to add - let’s say the conservatives get their way in 2008 - Rudy is tossed, Thompson is nominated, and he loses the general election. What happens in 2012? I guarantee you, they will come back again and say “Thompson wasn’t conservative enough, that’s why he lost”.

IMO, polls are only the indicators of how well the MSM is brainwashing the average nitwit. Bush’s low poll numbers reflect the hour by hour, day by day, week by week, month by month, year by year bashing the media and Liberals have done to him. Add to that the lack of gonads in the GOP leadership who have chosen, for whatever reason, to suck it up and not fight back. Polls, IMO, are worthless.

There was another thread about how three or four historically Republican States are now falling into the Dems corner...and you know what people on the thread were saying? That the Republicans better get back to its Conservative principles before it's too late.

HUH? So, more people are leaning towards the Dem side, so Republicans should get MORE extreme. That's the logic displayed here every single day. And I'm just exhausted from the nonsense.

Dem Angelides would sign it, Arnold will veto it — of course conservatives are very glad to have Arnold as gov.

Wow! How brave of him, considering that the measure is absolutely meaningless and has no consequences whatsoever.

You Main Street Partnership types are hilarious.

I understand what you’re trying to do, but seriously, he’s merely taken a picture with the other governors of western states (including my dispicable witch gov. fraudaire). I’m sure we can dig up the same of Bush with political opponents. Or Reagan with political opponents. Or frankly any politician. The picture is meaningless.

You need a break, you know it and we can see it when you voice your frustration at all the wrong people..

The rush to the middle by the GOP has not served it well, wounds inflicted to the party are not all of the dems and media’s making, you can deny it all you want.

But if you want to keep buying into this pap some toss and spin here, no one including yourself is served well. The reverse Clinton spinners are here and have ben playing their games for quite some time, and have confused a lot of good folks and severely impaired their IFF skills.

Just my opinion.

Beware of the Third Way and Progressive TWirPs.

No, and I don’t appreciate the personal swipe. If you’ll note, I made no mention at all of whether they differentiated between the two. I simply pointed out that Republicans don’t equal conservatives, no matter if Republicans think they’re conservative simply because they blindly vote for the guy with an “R”.

I’d take who considers themselves conservative with a grain of salt. It’s like those who identify themselves as evangelical Christians and then admit that they don’t believe the Bible is the Word of God.

I will state, however, that I shouldn’t have referred to them as “morons.” I have little doubt that they intended to present a certain viewpoint which is oh so conveniently supported by the survey. Nothing insidious about that though, after all “there are lies, d**ned lies, and...” well you know the rest.

That sentiment is profoundly true and understood by those who can lift their eyes beyond the keyboard IP horizon.

The POTUS won't be elected on bandwidth wasted here arguing back and forth.

Clearly, conservatism in a general sense has become muddled, overwhelmed in fact by sheer numbers of the opposition, such is politics.

It's not always a matter of principle as you point out.

Common sense is lost when one removes rose-colored glasses and cannot see the forest for the trees.

Does anybody really believe that “conservatives” are at all happy with Schwarzenegger? I don’t believe the friggin poll in the least and am surprised that so many of you, after witnessing the perpetual and pervasive bias against conservatives by the traditional print and broadcast media, give a single ounce of credence to anything these people tell you.

It is past time that conservatives and republicans call these bastards on their craven partisanship,in my opinion the future of the republic depends on how we combat the left-wing propogandists in the future. Their veiwership and power absolutely dwarfs the conservative media and that has become stupendously transparent since they have chosen sides.

If the lying does not stop you can be sure that someone resorts to violence as an equalizer. It won’t be me but it will be someone who believes that “extremism in defense of liberty is no vice, tolerance in the face of tyranny is no virtue”. I will celebrate it if and when it occurs, the media has gone too far.

How are only 2/3rds of California believing that Bush is untruthful when 100% of the media they consume tells him that he is? I guess 1/3 of Californians actually think for themselves. Which shows you why its not likely that there will be a rebirth of Reaganism in California ever again.
