The Muslims SHOULD apologize for their barbaric part in this and all of the rest of world history since the 600’s.

Of course not. They should just stop practicing it.

The modern apology-craze is mindlessly stupid.

Muslims are engaging in "pride" killings of family members, beating women for about anything, sending their children to blow themselves up....taking innocents with them, and beheading people in the most barbric way possible....all the while filming the whole disguisting act...and somebody asks if they will "apologize" for taking people into slavery?

Krap, taking slaves is the probably the most "acceptable" thing they do.

I would suggest that they abolish it before they apologize. An apology for something you’re still doing rings hollow.

Any apology from the Islamic world would be very hollow indeed. Unless they actually abandon it and outlaw the practice of slavery then why bother apologizing at all.

It’s not just African slavery. I’m sure if I looked hard enough in my ancestral history I’d be able to find someone that was captured and enslaved by the Moors. The Muslims used to raid European villages to get slaves. I want my reparations!

Apologize? Mohammad himself commanded his followers to kill or enslave all Kafirs. It’s not only justified, it’s a sacred duty! How dare the author slander the word of the Prophet!! Muslims will be outraged!!!!!

Muslims will never apologize for slavery. They have been implicated in it from the beginning. Christian Europe gradually abolished slavery. Then in the Age of Exploration they picked up the habit again from the Muslims. Wilberforce had to agitate for its abolition because Christian Europe had been seduced from its own basic principles.

You can’t expect Muslims to apologize for slavery because they will never admit there is anything to apologize for. If Mohammed did it, and if the Koran recommends it, then it must be an integral part of Islam. Mohammed is the example all Muslims are expected to follow, and there’s no way they will ever admit that he did something wrong, sinful, or evil. Allah told him it was his right to enslave and kill the enemies of Islam.

America's slavery officially ended in 1865, even though it led to Civil War. Eight years earlier, the US Supreme Court ruled in the case of Dred Scott that black people could never become citizens of the United States. In February 2007, Virginia officially apologized for its part in slavery, and on Monday this week, Maryland followed suit.

Modern Western nations' involvement in the black slave trade lasted little more than 350 years, yet Islam has been involved in the black slave trade for more than 14 centuries, from the time of its founder. Mohammed owned black slaves, and in countries like the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the black slave trade continues. According to Murray Gordon, the amount of black slaves taken by Muslims amounted to 11 million, though this figure is probably an underestimate. While white (and Arab) slave merchants bought and sold black people from the west coast of Africa, Muslim slavers in North Africa also engaged in a trade of white Christians, a trade that politically correct history books conveniently ignore.

While this is interesting, and the point about political correctness whitewashing history is important, the real history lessons concern the time before and after the Dred Scott case. That's were the important stuff was going on.

Yes, history tells us a great deal more than a number of silly people asking forgiveness. I watched BBC via Canadian television, showing a march. White people in London were wearing crude wooden yokes and marching. Sweatshirts had white lettering and worn by others showing "So Sorry".

One of the great gifts of immigration to Britain was a Polish born writer. Joseph Conrad (1857-1924). It is a long story of how he came to England and served in the British merchant navy. The truths he has written with first hand experience of the African tragedy, indict the whole lot. Europeans and a certain species of Black men. Exploiters all. His use of the usual word for negro enables the PC to write him off as a "racist". A short story of black betrayal on black is:

An Outpost of Progress

The expediters in their ignorance of how the ivory would be paid for are two white men. Agents for the Belgians are Kayerts and Carlier. Conrad takes the exploitation of humans and resources apart, without mercy.

Those pathetic marching people, remind me of the self righteous English protesters in the 1960's. They won. Today the new country, they committed minor violence to support, is called Zimbabwe. Human rights and self rule was the cry. Not that it should not have been given to self rule, but given over to competent leaders. Perhaps President Mugabe should apologize.

Saudi Arabia only outlawed slavery in 1962.

They should not apologize unless they really mean it.
