Dietz's father said the family is devastated by the uproar.

"It broke our hearts," said Dan Dietz, who still lives in the area. "My son was fighting for her freedom to do exactly what she is doing. She put my son in the same category as Columbine. How does she have the audacity to do that?"

Exactly how many parents are whining and complaining? I am sick of one or two idiots making the rules for the masses!

I’m thinking somebody doesn’t quite know what a statue is for.

"I don't think young children should be exposed to that in that way - unsupervised by their parents or any adults," said Emily Cassidy, one of the mothers

And Emily Cassidy continues her trek towards the nirvana of ignorance.

"We have absolutely no issue with the family, and we have only good feelings for the soldier and what he did for this country," Cassidy said.

Sure they have good feelings for this Navy SEAL and what he did for our country but they don't want to be reminded of it. Just can't make this kind of stuff up, what a whack job.

Danny Dietz is one of America's finest. God Bless him and his family.

We can always count on a few mothers to act like liberal airheads. Their sons can play violent video games but they might melt if they see a statue of a brave American.

>>”We have absolutely no issue with the family, and we have only good feelings for the soldier and what he did for this country,” Cassidy said.<<

A filthy lie! This is not about Columbine at all, this is about blocking any tribute or honour for the American soldier. This is the Pappy Boyington Disgrace Part II.

They don’t want a statue of Danny Deitz holding a rifle, but these are the same kind of people who will take their precious little pansy kids to a peace march and let them see anarchist hippies burn or defecate upon an American flag. And then there’s MySpace porn and the Xbox violence porn and the Homosex lessons for preschoolers, but Heaven forbid that they see a memorial to a brave man who gave his life to save his fellow soldiers in a far off land.

HOW I LOATHE THESE PEOPLE...THEY CANNOT STAND TO SALUTE COURAGE.

Their ignorance is breath-taking. And their ingratitude. Shame on all of them.

Here are two quotes from the article which say it all for me:

“It broke our hearts,” said Dan Dietz, who still lives in the area. “My son was fighting for her freedom to do exactly what she is doing. She put my son in the same category as Columbine. How does she have the audacity to do that?” . . . .

“The people who have never served in the armed forces are always the ones who speak the loudest against what the armed forces have done,” said Allan Stone of the Pat Hannon
VFW Post No. 4666 in Littleton, which helped raise nearly $42,000 for the sculpture.”

Right on!! Let the people like them bite their lip and bear it for a change. If they did, their kids might grow up to be better Americans.

Those on the left are afraid of guns because deep down inside, they know they are too weak and stupid to responsibly use even the small amount of power that a gun gives.

What I heard on the news this morning is that there are Columbine parents protesting this, and that they are likening this statue (the rifle in the statue) with the rifles used at Columbine, or something of the sort. The Dietz’s are very upset that their son would be in any way compared to the Columbine killers.

I have no idea how these folks can in good conscience compare the two (or intellectually either) - the children who populate the schools around this park were infants during Columbine and those who were at Columbine have finished college and most likely moved away. To me the comparison is just a way to incite the public that is still hurt by the incident. It is really outrageous.

We should go to Washington and tear down all those statues of Generals wearing swords, and humiliating those poor horses by sitting on them.

This woman needs a keeper.

But I assume that Quentin Tarantino’s movies are okay in Littleton? Pointless violence for its own sake is okay, but the mere sight of a firearm, being held by a noble, patriotic man, sends the wrong message(?) What these people are truly offended by is not violence, but the notion that brave people defend and sacrifice for their country, which is way too pro-American for their hateful sensibilities.

Well, I’m offended by the “National DAy of Silence.” Children shouldn’t be exposed to that. Why don’t we get back to the majority vote on these issues? Since we’ve become beholden to every person who “feels” offended. we’ve made some mighty stupid decisions.

Look, people like this have spent a lifetime toiling and sacrificing in an effort to achieve and maintain a certain willful ignorance of their own ignorance.

Hey, cut ‘em some slack, people! It’s not as easy as they make it look./s

Actually, those cowards freak out over violent video games too and try to get Big Government to ban them, even for adults.

Boys and girls who are raised by responsible parents can shoot guns, play violent video games, know the difference between the two, and never kill anyone unless it’s a legitimate case of defense. Liberal twits want to ban things because they’re not capable of that, and it makes them insecure. The average liberal is far stupider than the average child.

My screen name comes from a violent video game, and I’m still a law-abiding conservative.
