Well, you got me hooked.

Another excellent one. This one in particular reminded me of one of my best friends whose doctor warned him that he had an abdominal aortic wanting to burst and to do something about it. My friend didn’t. And it did. He died. Such a waste. I’m still mad at him.
My much older half brother died of it several yrs. ago.
He was aware of the problem as he had had an episode of severe abdominal pain several yrs. earlier.
Anyway, he got the pain, went to the hospital, the Dr. told him of the risks, likely dialysis, etc. and he elected to let nature run its course.
They pumped him full of morphine and he passed away about 6 hrs. later.
Guess I inherited the possible trouble.
Had a CT a few yrs. ago for another problem but the radiologist spotted and enlarged aorta. Said to be approx 2.5 cm.
The Dr said they don’t worry until it get to 4 cm. That seems awfully large to me, almost 2”.
Thanks for the ER end of this story. I worked in CV surgery for a lot of years and rarely hear how these cases present except for ER notes.
I am hooked too! Add me to your ping list!
