Good Points of this Theory

• accords with most ppls. experience
• explains presentation failure
• "intuitive" - uniformized commercial product "seems" likely to be counterproductive

Bad Points of this Theory

• What to present? - most talks dull by nature, need something on screen to prevent sleep
• Sunk costs: businesses have paid for, heavily invested in PowerPoint approach already (institutional reluctance/inertia)
• anti-egalitarian/ PowerPoint as "levelling" technology: Far more people now required to give presentations than actually skilled at giving presentations. PowerPoint enabled this, should we discard?

Conclusions

• Use only pages full o'pretty pictures in your presentations from now on.
• Further (federally-funded) research into this issue is desperately needed.
