This 40% for Rudy poll (out of the top 3 contenders) took place on Free Freaking Republic not too long ago!

In a poll with Rudy McRomney as the only candidates?

Geez, pick your poison. Most on FR don't want ANY of those!

LOL. I must admit, Liz, I always enjoy your posts! The humor in your political comments is ‘second to none’! You’d be a great political satirist!!!

Ah, you incorrectly assumed my affiliation. Public-funding-of-partial-birth-abortion-loving Guilianni can go kiss my conservative Californian behind. (For the record, my pecking order is Hunter, Thompson, then Romney.)

What I posted was a defense of Californian conservatives - just pointing out that of the top 3 announced, running contenders, we shouldn't be too surprised if one of them got a bit over a third in a poll.

The precise wording is:

“Congress shall make no law respecting the estabishment of a religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...”

Wise guy.

Yeah, I know what the real wording is, and what it means.

That's why what you said was so funny/stupid! It's like those infamous history test answers:

Abraham Lincoln became America's greatest Precedent. Lincoln's mother died in infancy, and he was born in a log cabin which he built with his own hands. Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves by signing the Emasculation Proclamation. On the night of April 14, 1865, Lincoln went to the theater and got shot in his seat by one of the actors in a moving picture show. They believe the assinator was John Wilkes Booth, a supposingly insane actor. This ruined Booth's career.

Oh, well, then good for you. My bad.

We've gotten a little wary of the CA GOP since the whole Arnold thing. A lot of us had admired McClintock's instincts and tenacity for years, even out here in flyover country.

I still think you guys missed your chance. But I can't fix the CA GOP. I can only watch it warily from a distance.

Recently, he got in trouble for having an affair with publisher Judith Regan at a city owned vacant apartment and, I believe, was recently indicted in a matter with which I am not familiar. Well, no one ever accused him of sainthood.

I think Bush's AG and the U.S. attorneys will make an example out of him. And it will happen just as the political fight starts to heat up for the nomination.

But he is accused, with strong evidence, of accepting remodeling for his property gratis from mob-connected individuals. And they'll convict him on tax evasion. He might go to prison about the time that the primaries come next year.

I don't see anything particularly admirable about him. And I won't be reading any books about him. Or Rudy. Or Hillary.

But then, when I see a dead skunk on the road, I hold my breath and drive past. That's just me.

"“Congress shall make no law respecting the estabishment of a religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...”

"Wise guy."

JZ is very wise. It's interesting that this clause comes off as somewhat contradictory, and the latter part has been consistently ignored by radical judicial activists for decades. Prohibiting it from federal, state, and local venues, from schools and the like is a clear and flagrant violation of the intent. Interesting to note, too, that all the Founding Fathers wanted to "prohibit" was establishing a specific sect of Christianity as a national religion with the President serving as the head of the church. Witnessing the messes created by the crowned heads of Europe (most especially the example of England's Henry VIII), they wanted to leave it solely up to the states, which were indeed permitted to establish their own STATE religions if they so chose. The ignorance of these facts today is profound.

“McClintock’s instincts and tenacity for years”

Yes, tenacity, but not a single, solitary accomplishment in all those years.

"I feel that I am a conservative, but my friends say I’m a liberal because I am considering voting for Mayor Giuliani for president."

You're a leftist troll. All Giuliani supporters are leftist trolls, abortionists, gun-grabbers and homosexual activists.

Collyfourkneeyans respond to charisma: Reagan, Arnold. They’re responding to the charisma of the Democrat triad because it’s been saturating their media for their entire attention span (since the last commercial). Rudy has a way of cutting through that saccharine and glutinous slime like a high-pressure washer. And he’s more likeable because he’s not a phoney. After a half hour of debate it will become apparent he has done stuff and los tres fake-o’s are reading lines on a set.

“All Giuliani supporters are leftist trolls, abortionists, gun-grabbers and homosexual activists.”

Sure, that’s why WE try to keep Hillary out of the White House, while the fine “true conservatives” want to make sure the Republicans nominate an unelectable person, whom Hillary can beat in her sleep and guess what Hillary’s positions and AGENDA is on the subjects you mentioned?

So who are the real conservatives, those who try to keep Hillary out of the White House, or those who do everything to put her in?

Assuming for the sake of argument that Bernie Kerik is guilty as charged, he is no dead skunk in the road. Perhaps a better description is that, like Icarus, his ambitions exceeded his reach. If he is convicted and imprisoned, I shall still pray for him as I do today and to wish him well. If he has broken such laws, he ought not have any free passes. I would feel that this country would be much safer with Kerik as Secretary of Homeland Security than it has been with warmed over politicos born to bureaucracy. As proven with Al Capone, tax evasion is the last refuge of frustrated prosecutors.

In any event, thanks again for your geneous comments and God bless you and yours.

You’re all about Rudy, not Hillary. Hillary is just the horror mask you put on to frighten other Republicans into supporting your ultra social liberal hero Rudy.
