Ditto, that. My favorite part of the dotcom bust was the great commercials. The marching band, attacked by wolves; the surgery patient with money out the wazoo and yes, the pets.com sock puppet.
The last day I ever watched ABC (or any TV for that matter) was about seven years ago when on "Good Morning America" Charlie Gibson did a story on the tremendous popularity of the pets.com sock puppet as if it was a real news story. I knew that pets.com was owned by the same company as ABC, yet there was no disclaimer. It was, in effect, a five minute advertisement posing as a news story. That was the end for me.
