European Oil Pipeline Deal Signed

April 4, 2007 6:38 a.m. EST

Josephine Roque - All Headline News Staff Writer Zagreb, Croatia (AHN) - Five south European countries have signed into the project called the Pan-European Oil Pipeline (PEOP). The pipeline will cover the Romanian port of Constanta and Trieste in Italy, and span through Romania, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia and eventually to the Trans-Alpine Line oil pipeline near Trieste.

According to the Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, the project is "of strategic importance" for the country and is expected to boost regional economy.

The PEOP will deliver Russian and Caspian oil from the Red Sea to the Adriatic coursing through 1319 kilometres of pipeline.

The five European countries include: Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Italy.

Croatia is also expected to reap an economic benefit of $1.3 to $2.2 billion dollars although the country will also be investing $550 to $980 million dollars.

The $2.62-$3.96 billion PEOP project will hopefully decrease the volume of oil tankers needed to ply the Turkish straits and Northern Adriatic.

By 2011 to 2013, the oil pipeline is expected to start operations with oil transport paths beginning at Costanza in Romania then through an existing corridor to the town of Pitesia. From there on to a new corridor to Pancevo in Serbia until Sisak where it will connect with the Adriatic pipeline towards Trieste.

The strategic importace of PEOP pipeline is that it will provide the auxiliaiary lifeline to Germany, the principal one being Russia-Baltic Sea-Germany.

In essence, Germany will get an uninterrupted flow of Russian oil.

Poland's poking of the two bears at the same time became useless. And the bears will remember.

POland has played her cards badly again. One may jokingly ask - How many Poles does it take to understand geopolitics?

Last week's cowardly betrayal of Christians and voting to give Christian Kosovo to Islamofascists is another example of useless foolishness of Polish diplomacy. It surely makes Jan Sobieski spin in his grave. And it was embarrasing Poland for nothing - U.S. plan to support Islamofascists was flushed down the toilet in Security Council last night.

For some people, liberty is wasteful concept.

Who is going to own the pipeline?

The EU types will probably just hand it over to the Muhammedan. It's that whole appeasement thing, you know.
