How can you submit to something that doesn’t exist? Sure, the scarf symbolizes submission to Allah to devoted Muslims. But Pelosi does not believe in Allah and is not a follower of Islam. She is wearing the scarf as a form of respect to her hosts.
In my opinion, having your sort of reaction to the ritual submission is giving it more respect than if you actually participated in the ritual. To a Christian, the scarf should be a meaningless gesture of superstition, not a powerful vow that you fear to take.
Oh I’ve been around them as well most of my professional life. Don’t be so naive. If push comes to shove they will take the side of their Muslim leaders rather than yours.
Natually, as would you and I side with our leaders rather than theirs.
When I was a kid our family lived in the ME and my mom and dad insisted that if we were to live overseas that we were to live among the people and not the American camps. Living among the people in the Middle East was one of the best experiences of my life.
It may have been “one of the best experiences of” your life, but it makes no sense to allow that experience to distract you from the dangers of islam...especially in combination with secularism.
That is double whammy we cannot afford to let continue.
