Murtha is right. Our military is so obviously failing miserably in every endeavor upon which it sets out.

(</sarcasm>)

Why doesn’t this douchebag just call it “The People’s Army” and get it over with.

We’ve proven over the last 30+ years that the all volunteer Army (Navy, Air Force and Marines) WORKS. We don’t need this idiot’s meddling in a proven system.

“focus of a bill sponsored by Rep. Charlie Rangel.”

But voted against by Charlie Rangel.

If a draft were put into place, I wonder which politician would be the first to scream that our rights were being violated and that all good Americans ought to flee to Canada. My money would be on Murtha to lead that charge — but Rangel would be right behind him.

“This is one of the smallest armies we’ve had since before World War II, right before the Korean War,” added the congressman.

Huh?

How stupid do you have to be to steal an idea from Charlie Rangel?

John Murtha and Charlie Rangel are appalled ANY ONE would sign up for Bush's War. Bringing the draft back has nothing to with bolstering U.S military manpower needs. It has everything to do with undermining our professional all volunterr military as a national institution.

What would be the point?

Liberals and anybody else that did not want to be serve would ignore their call up, burn their draft cards etc. all with the blessing of the democrat establishment and while being egged on by the media. Their would be no penalties enforced on the draft dodgers for fear of angering the populace and as soon as the conflict was over the dodgers would be pardoned...

So essentially, even with a draft, military service would still be "voluntary"...
